My physician gave me order to get a urine drug screen to continue prescribing my medication.
Is he just looking at whether I am taking it or getting a level also?
New law requires him to do so once a year, Mountain Comp Care Center.

He is looking to see if you are actually taking your medication. Depending on what lab he uses to analyze the urine he will be able to know if you are taking it as prescribed. Some laboratories can tell you exactly what parent drug and metabolites are in the patients stystem. So if you take it properly your body should have both parent drug and metabolites. So no just taking the medication the day before so that you'll test positive, he will be able to know if your body has metabolized the drug or not. Urine Drug Screens do not give concentration levels but the lab can give creatinine levels which variences in that number can be a determinate of how you are taking your medication.

Thank you for your helpful information. Not worried as I do take my medicine as prescribed but there have been a few times I have taken that extra pill. I have terrible panic attacks and sometimes it can't be helped.
