I think his chances are good. MANY people do not want Sunday beer sales and I would think that many of those people would vote for him. Actually, there arent a lot of choices in this election. There are two candidates who have ties to Mike Carter. From what I hear there are some waiting to see if Raymond Miller is elected. If he is, his election will be protested over residency requirements. The other has proven himself over years as a "do nothing". If either Ricky Cline or Brian Smalling are defeated, you can mark my words that Sunday Beer Sales will be on the first agenda. I applaud Ricky Cline for his article in the newspaper: standing up what he feels needs more attention. "The "great white elephant" (some may call it the Expo Center), employee pay (in this day and age who ever heard of free medical benefits?), etc. Ricky Cline may not be the most intelligent man, but think about the points he tried to make in the newspaper. I am an intelligent individual, college educated, professional - and I agree with every point!

Well, you may like him I think he is a joke. I worked for many years and have blessed to work where the employees insurance is paid by the employer. There most likely will never be any industries come to Westmoreland why would they when Portland has Mr.Collins whose company builds factories. Empty buildings already built in Portland just waiting for someone. Why move here and go thru the expense of buying land and building a place. Our only hope is tourism and we can not even support our own town by showing up for the Expo Center (Mule Days). Beer is the last thing we need to worry about cause before long this town will be dead look how many houses are for sale around here. Empty stores because we do not support them. We need a dry cleaners , bakery who wants to open in a ghost town. Anything sales tax revenue, property. business taxes we need people to move in not move out. We need some help and a council with ideas. I am not sure who that would be but I am watching and listening to the people that are running.

I think this town has alot of other issues along with the beer sales. We need to look at the candidates that can deal with ALL the issues, not just the beer sales. And I don't think Mr. Cline has a glue how to do that. That has been proven during his appointed term. As for the 2 that would go along with the Mayor, when it comes down to it they have to vote their heart and what is right according to the oath they take. Whom ever elected needs to work for the good of the town not just their own desire. This also applies to all residents. If everyone would take an interest and work together and stop complaining about the ones trying to better our town, in years to come our children and grandchildren could be proud of their home town.

I think all the ones that are running to be elected and the ones that all ready are should go visit Portland and Gallatin to see what they are doing to grow their town because whatever Westmoreland is doing It is not working. Come on people there's more problems in that town than the stupid beer sales. They cry about we don't have the funds for or for that, I wonder why, OH I KNOW WHY BECAUSE THE CITY COUNSIL WILL NOT LET THAT TOWN GROW. Nowhere to shop, nowhere to work, not a thing for a family to do there, not to many places to eat, so everybody has to somewhere to give their money to do every where grows, while poor little old Westmoreland dries up. So I just hope whoever is elected knows what yes means and let Westmoreland grow.

Maybe he talks about Sunday beer sales so much because that's all Mike Carter, William Green, Larry Reeves, and a few others talk about. Everyone keeps talking about the grants Mike Carter gets from the state, and yeah that's good and all, but he's not spending them where they need to be spent. The Expo Center is a great thing but it can only be a great thing if more events were held there. And they would be held there if it was more affordable to be a vender. And some people would like to sell food at the events but Mike Carter claims that they can't. Only Dave's BBQ can sell there. He only wants things done that will benifit him, his family, or his friends. There is a lot and I mean a LOT of scandal going on in this town.

I will only say this. Ricky has stood with the people and what they did not want. If they don't support him, it will be a shame. And by all means, will our churches back him OR CRUIFY HIM.

I saw the bid for the vendor to sell food at the post office . Did anyone turn in a bid besides Uncle Dave's ? Lets not crucify a local business because he is a Carter. Let us know the facts first. Does the expo get a percentage of the money they make?

Why doesnt the Expo Center do their own food and sell it? Seems to me like a wasted source of income for the the center.

Cline should win. He might be a brick shy of a load or a french fry short of a happy meal BUT he operates from the heart HE is not two-faced. I'm sure the Lord is proud of Ricky Cline.

I don't think Ricky is short of anything. He works for the town, but is alone. He has no help from the others. That is fact. I have heard the same thing, work together. Why do they not work his way some? Are they afraid he maybe right or that a few may not get their way, like they always have. Think about that then vote your heart.
