They do have a list - it is called a credit bureau report.

What you should have done was to formally evict them by means of a detainer warrant (suit for eviction and/or recovery of damages for unpaid rent and damage to your property.) You may still be able to do so if you know where to find them.

Even though it would be unlikely that you would recover your losses, a judgment against them would appear in their credit bureau report as an eviction. That is a giant red flag to anyone that they try to rent from in the future. It would be seen by any property owner that is smart enough to run a bureau before allowing them in.

That would serve the common good much better then posting complaints on web sites.

Best defense is move in pics and a move in / move out inspection that both parties sign. And a good lawyer that specializes in tenant law if it all goes bad.A good one will chase them for every last penny. A good property manager is worth every penny you pay them.Shop around for the best rates and services offered. Some management companies even offer leasing only where they screen the prospect. They will check credit, criminal, and rental records to try to insure you get the best tenant. A well written lease helps alot. I have seen alot of horror when it comes to the damage tenants can do.

We did all that. I just wanted an easy way for lazy landlords to find info about them.:-)

We did all that, actually. I just wanted another way for landlords and others who might do business with them to learn the truth and be warned.

This is Claire, the, "Bad Renter". It is important to post this. Not only because of the exaggeration, but because of what we found out about this couple during our stay.

This couple is on the run from the law. She and her husband (David Lester) are hiding in China. Their, "thing" is insurance fraud. Not only did this lady make horrible comments to us during our stay, but she treated us as though we were dogs after we told her about our children (the number of). Her actions could only be described as hateful at best. Thankfully, the Fair Housing Department of Dallas contacted them to inform them of the laws regarding families and housing. They were not happy about this at all.

Unfortunately, during our stay, we learned more about this couple than we ever imagined that we would or that we should have known. Not only were we visited by many process servers during our stay, but we were interviewed by a detective form the police department regarding their whereabouts. They left some extremely sensitive documents literally out in the open in the master bedroom closet (in a, "Baby Shower" gift bag that says, "boy" on it). It was shocking when it got tipped over and the contents spilled. We learned some very, very disturbing things about this couple. Thankfully, we made copies of the documents that we found. Briefly, the gist of what we discovered is that they faked her husband's (David Lester) appearance in order collect insurance money. It gets even stickier. There is an ongoing battle of sorts about his deceased wifes estate.

Additionally, we learned that both Jan & David have outstanding warrants here in TX, are being sued by multiple parties - private individuals and businesses. All of their crimes center around - money scandals of some sort.

Jan confided in us that her husband, David Lester, was with her in China. She admitted this to us in an email. The missing persons case is still open. Not only have we shared information with the proper authorities but we will continue to cooperate with them. We believe that they tried to scam money via a bogus claim from the company that we booked their home with. We saw this coming weeks before we left and we even warned the company 3 weeks before our departure that we felt as though they would try to get money from them. The company offers a wonderful protection for landlords and when we found out about their crimes, we just knew what was to come. From what I understand, this couple submitted photos of the, "damage" and their claims were denied because of the lack of damage. We left the home messier than we would have liked. My husband offered to stay and clean it but they declined. Also, we paid a cleaning fee.

You can look up the cases yourself on the county website. Just search for, "David Lester":

http://apps.collincountytx.gov/cccasesearch/

Here is one of many missing persons reports for her husband:

http://www.missingin.org/reg781/david_lester....

Also, you can search online records for this lady as well and see her court cases, warrants, etc…. Please note that you can check the surrounding counties as well. Their legal issues aren't restricted to just the county that their home is in. Finally, you are welcome to email us for more information. If you are law enforcement & haven't spoken with us yet, we are more than happy to help in any way that we can.
