Part of the Calverton Grumman Property recently sold will be used for an Industrial and Technology Business Center. It would be good economic sense for Grumman to work out a deal with the Town of Riverhead. Also, it would be good for me since my commute would only be 20 minutes instead of an 90 minutes each way. Grumman's move will attact smaller feeder businesses to the area as well. Mr. Levy - PUSH FOR IT!!!!

What kind of "incentives" will Northrop Grumman be expecting? They're certainly not looking to expand on L.I. out the goodness of their greedy little heart - especially after hanging thousands of well-educated, hard working, faithful employees out to dry 20 years ago. Be careful what you wish for Long Island....you might just get it. One can't help but wonder if they're anticipating a Presidential win by N.Y.'s Junior Senator, and are simply trying to pre-emptively "suck up?"

Exactly. The indoor ski slope is one of the stupidest ideas I have heard for that land parcel. It will be popular for the first few months it is open, then it will be a ghost town.

You got it in one, Waldo. Not to mention Long Island has suddenly become "strategic" again thanks to that psycho in the White House taking a big dump all over the middle east.

If he attacks Iran he's going to piss off Russia AND Europe, and Hillary will allow the military/industrial complex to continue doing what he started - although it's a tossup as to whether she'll do it because she's corruptable or because her lack of military experience means it will be easy to give her the mushroom treatment.

Let's move Grumman to the Calverton site before some biological mistake of incest decides to build a race track for morons.

No one will be building airplanes here again...get real...the jobs they will provide are more along engineering/design/technical.. .it takes years to ramp up, or down for that matter an assembly line of that magnitude ya dopes.
Military work is still being done on LI.
Ever hear of EDO corp, BAE, Narda systems, Orbit?
How about we just outsource our military hardware to China...bet you'd like that!
"The sky is falling", now get back to flipping those burgers, don't worry, your place of employment is safe, no one will bomb your burger joint, just Manhattan the financial capital of the world, wanna move that too?..Move to the mid/southwest, oh thats right, there are missle silo's there.

DoD left Long Island hanging out to dry in the 1990s. Hundreds of good engineers given no choice - either pull up stakes and go to Florida, Texas or Baltiwash or just "retire".
Brilliant engineers who worked on the ORIGINAL E2-C AWACS in the 1960s (by the way it's now referred to as the E4) having to run pizza places and laundromats and card stores just to stay alive and pay their mortgages. This is how DoD rewarded their loyal service.
You want to go this route again? Just keep in mind DoD had us over a barrel for the last 10 years concerning that Bethpage parcel even though it was legislated to give it to the County by Congress. Thank you SO MUCH, US Navy. Anytime, baby.
DoD is a treacherous partner both at home and abroad. Don't go there. Let's make our money honestly for a change, shall we? Keep the stench of corruption and war crimes away from here - not to mention we don't need any additional targets for terrorism either.
Grumman, Sperry/Unisys, Harris/PRD/GSSD - they all left when our community needed them. They can stay gone as far as I'm concerned. Take your BushCo blood money elsewhere, creeps. I'd rather eat ramen noodles for the rest of my born days than EVER work for the likes of you again. Follow in my father's footsteps? That'd be nice if he wasn't in a wheelchair - not like you care much, DoD scum, although the infrastructure he helped design is still in the air, on the sea, and now being used against his own children.
Sounds like you have some serious issues. Did Grumman can your old man shortly after "Bring your son to work day"?

Not even a ghost town...it will be a haven for all of the skells that have nothing better to do. If people want to ski, they want the real deal only two hours away. If someone can't handle driving two hours upstate then they won't be able to afford Mount Calverton.

Why not locate at Gabreski Airport? They just finished an environmental study and have about 60 acres available with all kinds of economic incentives. Any why not???

Grumman has a slim chance for the tanker contract (40 billion $). It was bid on as a "favor" to the Air Force. In return they are the probable winners of the BAMS contract, which will create a few hundred jobs on LI. The company will expand into the old Plt 5 building in bethpage if needed. Thats if nassau county moves its behinds. The third contract is a very long ways away. By then we might have a democrat in the white house, then all bets are off.

because Gabreski airport lies atop the Pine barrens and the most valuable fresh water recharge region on the eastern end of Long Island. Not damaging our water supply is too important.

Florida is currently the hardest hit state in the country for real estate. it is a depression down there right now. You can see 4 or 5 houses in a row up for sale and the asking price in many many areas is under, well under a hundred grand. If you bought in the 80s you might be able to get even money today but I seriously doubt it. Talent pool work in WalMarts and Hess gas stations.

Just came back it is scary to say the least, literally 4 or 5 in a row!
