Priest takes center stage in controversy

Full story: Newsday

One of James Lisante's tasks when he was in the minor seminary in the 1970s was to get a public figure to come speak each year.

Msgr Lisante is awolf in sheeps clothing - as for his (good) friend mat brockley this man is no good. He was not welcomed at Our Lady of Lourdes nor was Lisante but both were forced upon us by the bishop; and Brockley by his very close friend and interieor desinger Rev matthew brockley we got the msgr and he has so far spent about 50,000 dollars on refurbishing his room as he drives his mercedesbenz
What difference does it make what kind of a car he drives if he is a good man and a good priest loved by many? Incidentally his Mercedes Benz is over 10 years old.

Lisante is a pompous know-it-all who loves the limelight. He would be the first to demonize anyone else acting improperly. He should be sanctioned for bringing this priest here without proper authorization.
If the Bishop spoke with Msgr. Lisante privately about Father Blockley not having the proper release from his Bishop, although he was here in the open for the past 8 summers, then that should be the end of it. Father Blockley, although a good man and good priest, is gone from the Diocese. The Bishop and Monsignor Lisante spoke. The end. It's just too bad Msgr. is still at OLL where many of us know he absolutely doesn't want to be. His punishment for him, is being at OLL.

We should assume that the Bishop has dealt with this with Monsignor Lisante and that Msgr. not continue to be villified. Father Blockley is gone and it's really over.
It's actually very hard to believe that Bishop Murphy was not aware of Father Blockley openly here in the Diocese serving Mass, doing weddings, funerals, for the past 8 summers, actually April-Oct. of each year.

And just why ought we assume this? because maybe you have a vested interest in defending Lisante, maybe?

Because we're not the judge or the jury. The Bishop is the one responsible for handling the situation and he did.
And separately, I would always defend Monsignor Lisante because I know he is a good man.

The bishop, as you know very well, is quite irresponsible. So, to leave justice to him is a sin of omission.

Thus it is that the laity must take it into their hands to expose the rot and get rid of it.

The IRS is a good place to start.

Hopefully the monsignor and all the others report every cent they "take in."

......I don't think the reference was to Msgr. Lisante....and let me just say it's clear to many, myself included, that this entire blog and the two articles in Newsday against your new pastor were the work of a very small disgruntled group within your parish....very sad...why would anyone contact Newsday with this nonsense....why give them any more anti-Catholic fodder? why not try to be a positive influence in the parish instead of so negative and divisive?
I don't get it...I think it's time everyone starts working together to make it the wonderful parish that it could be....
what do you mean the parish it could be nothing needs to be changed its the last of the true catholic church's god bless this parish thank you jesus for fr. Mason, hopefully Lisante will learn true love of Christ, Humility, sacrifice and do his job of saving souls

I was a parishioner in Our Lady of Lourdes more than 10 years ago. Father Mason was Pastor then and I can honestly tell you that I NEVER walked out of mass feeling hopefull or feeling the power of God's love. Every homily was on premarital sex, abortiion & condoms. I walked out of the Mother's Day mass with my new born son because I was celebrating my first Mother's Day and did not want to hear about abortion on that day. I would also like to state that when there is a "Childrens mass" being served, the homily should not reflect upon such things. I do not want to explain to my young child when he asks "Mommy, What is a condom?" During that time in my life, my husband & I taught pre cana. Father Lisante was the directing priest. He was wonderful, insightful & refreshing. He was full of love, hope & encouragement for the engaged couples. Father Mason drove all of the young families out of that parish. I myself went to a neighboring parish for the rest of the time I lived there. Hats off to Father Lisante who will definately have an uphill battle winning that parish over and the cult following Father Mason created there.
Dear smd Fr Mason is a true Catholic Priest who knows his job is to save souls for Christ it sounds like you are just another that does not want to hear that they are doing someting worng (Comitting) Sin he Cares about your Immortal soul and many people who will find themselves in heaven its becouse he taught the truth not some watered down version of the faith you said you would not want to explain to your child what a condom is sorry thats yoyur job mommy Or you can do like everyone else let the school teach your kids. god bless that fr mason tells engaged couples coming for precana that they cant live together in sin (SEX)..Shame on him for doing his job please think about what he says and matbe you just took it out of context good luck god bless

A pastor that does not have time for his parish, is no pastor at all. Lisante would not have much problems and could stay away from the parish 6-1/2 days every week and the parish would prosper, and he could persue his love- Himself. He and the Bishop are dead wrong about that priest Mathew Blockley, who according to Msgr Lisante, was thinking of leaving the church. He was ordered back to Saipan, and to this day, has not contacted nor shown up at Saipan, or Chalan Kanoa, according to the Bishop of Chalan Kanoa,
Bishop Tomas Comacho.
Where is he? Ask Lisante. Meanwhile, the FBI,
and Homeland Security have been alerted.

pro-abortion Catholic Thomas Suozzi, fondly regarded by both the Bishop and the new pastor of OLL, was an honored guest at Msgr. Lisante's celebration Mass yesterday, definitive proof that the Lisante Plan has been firmly cemented into place.
Tommy Suozzi's appearance yesterday at Msgr. Lisante's Installation Mass is the perfect capstone to the new pastor's five-month plan to mold this once orthodox parish into the ideal model of a politically correct, gay-friendly, Obama-loving, pro-DNC, "tolerant" parish. As we have documented here, anyone or anything that did not fit the mold has been ruthlessly excised, with the final pruning and some last unpleasant surgical cuts no doubt still to come.
Ironic, isn't it, that this pastor who was admired and vigorously defended as "pro-life" all along by conservative types has finally shown his true colors in the festivities yesterday as he allowed a well-known pro-abortion, pro-sodomite politician to take the lectern to deliver a fulsome valediction in his honor?
Of course, it went unnoticed by the Lisante Team that the U.S. Bishops' Conference last July in their document, "Catholics in Political Life" has stipulated that, "The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions."
If "our Tommy," as he has been affectionately named by Bishop Murphy himself, received Holy Communion yesterday, the Lisante Team should also be notified, since they tend to neglect such details, that this been forbidden by the Vatican. Just for the record, here is the warning from Arbishop. Burke, reported in Life News:
Archbishop Raymond Burke, the prefect of the Apostolic Signature, said all pro-abortion Catholics -- but especially politicians -- should not receive communion.
Archbishop Burke also issued a challenge to ministers to make sure they are not providing the sacrament to pro-abortion lawmakers who have not repented from their position, which is at odds with the pro-life teachings of the Catholic Church.
Communion should be denied to pro-abortion politicians “until they have reformed their lives," he said, in the interview with Radici Christiane magazine.
“Receiving the Body and Blood of Christ unworthily is a sacrilege,” he warned.“If it is done deliberately in mortal sin it is a sacrilege.”
Tom Suozzi, the Nassau Executive, has been criticized strongly by Catholic pro-life groups on Long Island for his unprecedented plan to please both pro-life and pro-abortion groups in the controversial government program he sponsored. Peter Schmitt, the NY Legislature's pro-life GOP minority leader expressed his dismay with the program.
Leadership is not pandering to both sides of a contentious issue by using taxpayer dollars. I have pro-abortion people calling concerned that pro-life people are being funded, and pro-life people calling concerned that pro-abortion people are being funded. You can't be on both sides of this issue.
.
Our own Msgr. Lisante, in 2006, has also lavished praise on our pro-abortion, pro-gay Tommy, declaring that "I love Tom Suozzi. I think he's great."
Small wonder then, that this was the guest of honor at his Installation Mass, the prototype of the ideal Catholic in the new OLL.
