A big hit was the new delivery system. To this day I do not nor have I had a regular carrier more than three weeks in a row since they cut out the delivery by paperboys(and girls).

"another one bit the dust" except for EDUCATION-SCHOOLS-SPORTS-SUMME R SCHOOL-AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS-PRENATEL-and the list goes on...on...on...
AND the end result, the poor, poor students still can't pass a standard test.
Let's keep jacking the price of education and FORCE more business OUT OF BUSINESS!

I used to get the MC delivered, however, once they stopped using young paperboys and papergirls, they lost me as a subscriber. The young people used to get our papers here early enough to read while eating breakfast in rain, snow, and ice (and put the newspaper between the doors). The others deliver when "they get here". Why have a morning newspaper delivered when you can read it on line earlier on line? And then to have someone from Allentown deliver in Bethlehem---what happens when we have snowy and icy days!!!!

Better you should name Al Gore for "inventing" the internet. I feel badly for the folks losing their jobs TMI on the website guys and in a timely manner. Run it late and leave key things out OR charge for access to the site. The Express Times, EPPublishing and The Times News make a go of it. What's up you guys?

I don't buy the MC as much because the cost went up. also people need to save money to pay for the high gas prices it cost my husband $50.00 to $60.00 a week for gas to drive to work.

You misread me. Most of the stuff I'd advertise is free on Craigslist. The fact that Craigslist is not entirely free is beside the point. The fact is that most of the stuff that the average person will advertise in the Lehigh Valley (i.e. selling cars, employment ads, selling personalty and etc) is free. I'm not gonna pay MC for anything I can get for free. User1805 wrote: <quoted text> Advertising on Craigslist is not completely free. This is a misstatement of fact.

The last employment ad I placed on Craigslist was free and I got the same response that I would have gotten from the MC. I paid my last $ 400 to the MC for advertising some time ago. Reader wrote: <quoted text> The last help wanted ad that I placed ran for three days and cost $400 for about one column inch. Maybe the suits in Chicago should take the hit instead of the people they manage. Newspapers are committing suicide by letting people read their content online for free. I've never paid for employment ads here in the Valley. This policy and the one for rentals varies according to the community/area as I understand it. In San Franciso, you pay for apartment ads while you do the same here for free. please wrote: Online classifieds. See http://allentown.craigslist.org/ It is free to post classifieds and view classifieds in almost all categories, including all merchandise. The only categories where there is a fee is job listings and some apartments. <quoted text>

You should feel lucky,50 or 60 dollars a week and 5 miles from the workplace ? We drive a lot farther for a lot more money for gas ? What's your calculation on , last years gas prices ?

I hope that the Morning Call gets a new VP of Circulation & Marketing.
The present one, Michael Foux, has not been doing his job. I had contact with him almost 2 years ago about missing papers. His response: NOTHING.
I have not subscribed since, although I get a number of postcards asking me to come back. Michael Foux needs to be replaced.
Then, maybe, I'll subscribe to the MC again.

if the morning call had a product people were interested in they wouldn't have this problem. they are too busy being self-important to realize people have better options to get their news today.

Actually I don't miss the market at all. I usually get a heavy response to the ad's I've run. There's usually a response from a MC advertising rep as well trying to sell me on paying them to get the same thing I can get for free. User1805 wrote: <quoted text> Understandable... It's time to start charging for these postings--say a buck a post. That way we all support the exercise of our freedom of speech and the MC gets the revenue it needs. You like to post? Well dig deep and anty up!

I'd still like to have some local journalists working... and I think that's essential to our democracy actually functioning.
