I didn't know setting off a good ol' drano and tin foil bomb in the middle of a softball field was considered arson these days. I also didn't know that an exploding soda bottle is life threatening...
Wish the bpd would be a little more intelligent, no need to send the whole police force to arrest 5 teenagers while more serious crimes are being commited.

You have to admit, these boys obviously werent thinking, especially being on school property, but I see this as harmless. Just a bunch of immature teenage boys acting stupid. I thought thats how all teenage boys were, maybe not blowing up plastic bottles, but still immature and stupid.

I think race is not a factor here the factor is that Young kids no matter there race decide to blow things up for no reason at all. They should get a job!!!! or do something productive how cool are you that you can set off a bomb. I want to agree with you No matter What you are right you should not get into an argument with people for stupid reasons beat them by being better then them in life. Who cares who has dumb minds. This country was founded by people that focused on better lifes and also that is what the civil rights movement with martin luther king was all about not getting in a word match but doing something productive for everyone!!! No matter race, religion or sex!!!

My comments are intentionally inflammatory and ridiculous. They are meant to point out the favorable double standard that whites accused of crime get versus people of color accused of crime.
What? Are you out of your friggen mind. Favorability? How the hell are they favored. And what did they get that you speak of? Ignorant people piss me off !!!

Surprise. Surprise. More whites committing crime. They are a scourge on the Valley. We need to round them all up and send them back to Europe or where ever they come from.
How do you know they were whites?

Because if they were of color then it would say "Police said five BLACK! men charged with arson and drug possession although all 5 men deny ever having drugs."

You're just showing how ignorant you really are. Yeah, a bunch of white kids blowing up a few bottles. Terrible. Had they been, shall we say, of color they would have been blowing up some one or someone's property. Cause that's all they know how to do. Destroy or kill!
lmao congrats you just did the same thing he did.. you just showed how ignorant you are..did you not realize what you just wrote

First of all, I don't even know what to say to the other comments other than this:
You're all a bunch of racist, ignorant pricks and you're reading an inaccurate story to begin with.
Pamela Lehman, your story sucks horribly to put it bluntly. Your "facts" are inaccurate and contradict each other throughout the story.
You state that:
"At least two of the bombs, fashioned out of a solvent and tin foil, exploded around 10:45 p.m. in the softball field in the 2100 block of Madison Avenue. The blasts were so loud that neighbors called police reporting they heard numerous gunshots."
So, there's two bombs yet the neighbors heard "numerous" gunshots? The word "numerous" generally implies a number greater than two.
Secondly, you state that the bombs exploded around 10:45pm, then you later quote Richard Kovacs saying: "his first instinct was to look at the clock and note the time. It was 10:40 p.m." Was it 10:45 or 10:40?
Thirdly, what was the importance of your reference to Anthony Negri's case? Did you run a Google search for "bottle bomb cases" or something? Negri's case is totally different considering the fact that his "bottle bombs" were set off inside a building AND yielded injuries, where as the current case dealt with a bunch of teenagers, not men, just being stupid in an empty field. The only potential injuries could have been to themselves, and in that case they would have been asking for it, right?
Lastly, and most importantly in my eyes, the CORRECT ages of the individuals are as follows:
Joshua Blasko, 18
Kyle Kunsman, 18
Jason Rodgers, 18
Daniel Taylor, 18
and Eric Blasko, 19
You must have pulled numbers out of your asshole on that one, genius. How can you call yourself a reporter if you can't even accurately record something as simple as the ages of individuals involved in a story? You should be embarassed. I hope I get to become a reporter and write a story about you someday.

Uh.. Bethlehem Police?
Question...

Where does the arson charge come into play, seeing that this type of bottle bomb explodes due to pressure and no fire is involved?

I mean come on you can even find a demonstration on YouTube...
