Hello all~

I am a 54 year old woman who had a heart attack last year Dec 7. I had a stent placed (drug eluding) in my LAD. Lately I've been experiencing sweating episodes and stopped my Plavix today. YAY. My cardiologist still wants me on Carvedilol for life UGH. The sweating episodes come out of nowhere and make me almost faint. Then go away.

I trust a cardiologist and his medications like Statin drugs , Metoprolol, plavix as much as I would trust a crazed, lunatic sporting a pistol pointed at my family jewels.

This is freakin ridiculous. Why are the pro's AND cons not explained to us patients regarding Plavix/Clopidogrel - naely the severe dangers of it and the gamble with lives when and if the medication is stopped? There is just so much contradicting info on this medication, it is really disgusting that this kind of medication can just be "approved" without doing the studies to show just how detrimental stopping it can be in a lot of individuals, be it immediately or months down the line. I am absolutely horribly afraid to go of the antiplatelet clopidogrel , even after my 12 month prescribed period is now up

REPLY TO BARBI... Please keep us updated on how you doing since stopping your plavix, and that after a drug eluting stent? for which apparently 12 months pf plavix/clopidogrel (sometimes with aspirin) is prescribed. You say you stopped on 5 December 2012-it is now just over a month ago. Would be very interesting to see your update?

Is there anyone who has had a heart attack/blood clot,re stenosis of stent (in particular XIENCE V CARDIAC STENT) or any other stent - after stopping plavix/clopidogrel? A lot of info on the internet have stories of people who have had heart attacks (some massive) after stoppuiing, and they say the 90 days after stopping is a danger period for heart attacks/blood clots/restenosis etc/
Thanks in advance for info

Simastatin has like all Statin drugs a dangerous profile of medical destruction with pain and suffering

I use deodorized Garlic. Non flush Niacin along with high dose B complex . Hawthorne berries. Vitamin E . lysine and vitamin C.

Plavix is in fact a blood thinner prescribed for various reasons, some being; CAD carotid artery disease, CHF congestive heart failure, athlerosclerosis or LDL cholesterol clotting of veins and arteries as well as other conditions. It is a good medication if being taken for the right reasons. Be sure you need it before you take it. All medication comes with a patient information sheet when acquired from a pharmacy..... Read it.

hi all
i had bifurcation stent fitted in jan 2006, in uk.
Prescibed Plavix for 12 months +Aspirin for life.

I am also on Warfarin for Atrial Fibrillation.

To date apart from slight bruising, haven`t seen any adverse reactions.

Just had further angiogram (2 days ago) and was kept on all meds except Warfarin (stop 3 days before), bit more bruising at site of insertion.
Warfarin is generally not prescribed dr atrial fibrillation ( irregular heart beat) buy for thickened blood to thin it out. Routine PT INR blood tests must be done to check the thickness/thinness of blood to increase or decrease dose taken. Check again with your doctor why you are taking warfarin/Coumadin.

Unless of course the atrial fibrillation is vein caused by thickened blood, which most often occurs in smokers.

Feb 6 will be a year since my triple by-pass and abandoning two of the five arteries and the date the doc stated I would die if not pharmacutically induced with the standard medicine of heart failure being Simastatin, metropolol , plavix, 81 mg aspirin and diet overhaul. I did over hauled my diet and went to taking common minerals, vitamins and became more health conscious by limiting my activities to daily walking only.

I have been taking plavix for 7 years after minor stroke, touch wood no more strokes however as a keen gardener, "do it your selfer" learn to live with the fact that your skin is soft as a ripe peach and gushing cuts are now a fact of life. As for going off it, it aint happening, doctors tell me its whats saving my life but should I be lucky enough how will I be in another 10 yrs? Andy 56 yrs Canberra Australia.4150
