Does anybody have any thoughts or comments on Bethel Springs future? Can Bethel survive until the next city elections?

As longs as we have people like our mayor rattling off her mouth uncontrollably here will be problems. Our Policemaen is no diffrent. Grow up! It's embarrassing to see folks your age act like children! Calm down and realize this is a small town with legitimate problems. Find solutions with maturity and wisdom not create new ones with self agendas and foolishness.

You have as many in Bethel that do not want Bethel to change. A change would mean they could not bully the leaders of McNairy County. The same bunch would have to pay their bills just like everyone else. Do they want change?

Got news for you , have ask for help solveing the problem, City employees like Policeman have not 1 thing to do with that, so please stick to the point of how to solve the problem. The mayor, board of alderman have ruined Bethel in every way, that is why Norma Smith only got 30 votes, was trying for something better, Kay Cox has followed right along in her foot steps, this is a big lost for Bethel, so we have to do something, does anyone have the energy to stand their ground.

For starters, what is 'wrong' with Bethel?
Second, money makes the world go around; if improvementns and a better life is what is wanted in Bethel, why don't they do something to get more businesses in to generate revenue (money). I don't think that can be blamed on a sewer system. There wasn't much in Bethel BEFORE the sewer because businesses needed a sewer.
Third, why don't they use the monthly meetings for what they are suppose to---improve the town; instead, they are used to destroy the town and people in it. Where did all that hate and unhappiness come from anyway?
Overall, the town only has a handful of employees; it sounds like the 5 people on the board use the monthly meetings each month to argue over who gets to tell the employees what to do or not do. Get the mayor and aldermen hands out of the day to day operations, and things would probably run alot smoother. I don't know of many towns where the employees run around to different board members for instructions or to play tattle tale. There just seems to be alot of the 'politics' played by employees. And I've never seen a town board meeting where there was so much open discussion back and forth between board members and people there to observe the meeting. The town just really needs a good cleaning. A town that small only has a handful of people to choose from anyway when it comes election time. Most of the time, they don't even have any competition running.
Whatever happened to that downtown renovation thing? Selmer improves something every year; so does Adamsville.
And as far as elections go, the people elected are elected by the majority. so that means the majority of the people of the town chose what they wanted---people like themselves.

Bethel is now a transit town. It has no jobs to pull young people in and no tax revenue. People just pass by it to Jackson and Selmer. It really should just be absorbed into the county.

The people complaining about the mayor and board are the same ones who voted for them.

I agree with selmer dude. Bethel has become a disaster. From the mayor to the lowliest peon city employee. The girls in the office have delusions of grandeur. The mayor is senile as hell and all the aldermen are turning out to be a group of dumbasses.

Just sitting here waiting for the day to come when the shoe is on the other foot. It will you know. You think you all are so high & mighty, when all of you are just a big bunch of outlaws. You are going to get caught up with, & there will be no mercy for any of you. Mayor Cox is old she can,t remember where she is at, why the ladies in office taking care of all the so call business. If they think they are not going to be ones to get all the blame they are wrong. That awful bunch of alderman look like babies following their mother around. We know there is no hope for Bethel untill you all are gone, but will stand by & wait.

The only people who will suffer will be the citizens. Then again why were none of these so called officials checked in on before they were voted for? Shame to be an elected official you don't need references and a drug test like a actual job.

The ONLY people that suffer are the residents of Bethel. All we have to look forward to is paying the salaries of all them dumbasses in city hall. No progress just a bunch of dang drama queens. Mayor is so dead set on proving she is the queen and she cuts her own nose off in spite of herself. She could care less about the residents and proves it every day. That old sour puss hag has lost her dang mind. Bethels only solution is to be absorbed by the county and chalk up the loss to poor leadership!!!

I don't know if he has paid it or not but he sure wrote a damn good letter to the editor! The paper did not have to verify what he was stating in his letter to the editor because THEY WERE THERE, TOO! I believe the video might be posted on the web site!

Someone posted before about mayor Cox laughing while Jackie Miller and Bobby Gray were having their exchange.

Where was Jackie Miller, the seven he speaks for and the (A Lawyer) when the city of bethel were having their meetings and passing the water/sewer grant?
Miller was using Bobby Gray as a example for him and the seven not to pay their bill.Mr Gray stated he was paying his bill for his house, and had no bathroom at the business location.
Was it not stated that several may be in violation of operating a business out of their house or another building on the same meter? should there not be separate meters? Why would another person be allowed to operate another business on the same meter not be expected to do the same as Alderman Gray. Have 2 meters.

Happen to know, they are 2 bathroom, 1 in bobby,s place, one in norma building & neither are paying. But half of whole town not paying, so why not? You can try to defend Alderman Gray all you want, he is elected to help the people & he is not paying his bill. Who do you people think you are? We all know bobby, but from what i have heard lately he is no worse than 1 we are paying our money to. Yes whole town knows about city clerks debts & reputation for not paying debs, so what, all alike.

Does Norma own those buildngs and rent them out? or is she operating a business out of those buildings? At least Mr.Gray is paying for his house. If you are not paying for your house, you are trying to game the system. Why should anyone pay?

Has he got a receipt for paying at home. How does anyone know if he is paying? Last report I had he told them to take it out of his check for being alderman. how did he know if that check would cover his bill or not? Better not beleive what you hear.
