To the fine people of Brown County Ohio,

Do yourselves a favor and look at the Brown County Web Portal. Read what the responsibilities are for the County Commissioners and Sheriff are.

Under the Commissioners, one part uses the words "Most Important " is the budgeting and authorizing of funds to all county agencies and elected officials. If you feel the Commissioners have done a good job of doing that with the Sheriff's Dept, who refuses to investigate deaths in your county; you might want to see how legal it is, they are being paid with your tax dollars or not being investigated for failure to perform ?

Under the Sheriff it states, it is his responsibility to Investigate Crimes. How would he ever know if there is a crime or not, if he doesn't investigate it ?

Again, its YOUR tax dollars paying for whatever service your getting, or not getting. Wouldn't you want to know if that's proper or legal ?

I didn't write the webpage for Brown County Ohio, read it for yourself and be informed !

Would you let anyone else demand you give them your hard earned money ? And if you didn't pay your taxes, you could be sentenced to jail ?

YOU people of Brown County Ohio are paying your taxes, following the law, right ?

Why would you NOT hold others accountable for taking your hard earned money and NOT force a department or elected official to uphold their end of the bargain ?

I know you people of Brown County Ohio are NOT that stupid, isn't it time to show the so called leadership, enough is enough ? Don't you want to be proud to say you live in Brown County Ohio. Isnt it time to start working on removing that " Black Eye " it has ?

Actually, if you look at the Ohio Revised Code the primary duty of the Sheriff is to provide and maintain a county jail. The next responsibility is provide court security and deliver court papers and subpoenas. The third duty is to patrol the unincorporated areas of the county. So the duties listed on the Brown County web portal are listed in reverse order. Also, the SO does not enforce any traffic laws. They leave that to the state patrol.

If the SO was smart, they would accept prisoners from the villages and make $50 a day. Instead they refuse every prisoner from the villages unless it is a county charge. Then guess what? They have to deal with them anyways. Make some money since you are broke and accept arrestees from the villages.

You said: " Also, the SO does not enforce any traffic laws. They leave that to the state patrol."

I did not see that in the ORC. But the Sheriff's Office does have investigators that investigate crimes. But they don't follow the rules and procedures for a crime scene. That is the problem the coroner has been having by not getting the cooperation of the Sheriffs office.
Any crime scene is to be secured by the Sheriff Deputy or investigator. it is apparent they do not know what their job title includes.

If you do a search on the web for "crime scene investigation sheriff ohio" you will see
( http://search.aol.com/aol/search... )

www.browncountyohiosheriff.us/.../Road%20Patr... - Similar to Brown County Ohio Sheriff's Office has been with the Brown County Sheriff's Office since July 27, 1992.... various areas including Tactical Response, Narcotic Testing, Crime Scene Investigations,...

So does the Sheriffs office put this on the web when they don't do crime scene investigations?

Why are their investigations any different than any other sheriff's departments?
Is it because Schadle says so? Or is it because Wenninger says so? And just who is paying them to do their job? Remember they work for the people of Brown County and should do their job the same as any other sheriff does of any other county.

Here is the program they need to follow " http://www.crime-scene-investigator.net/dutyd... ;

That is their policy. They refuse to handle any crash, dui, or traffic violation if it occurs on the roadway. If a crime began on a roadway and ended up on private property, they still refuse to handle the call.

You saw how fast BCI and the Pros Office solved the two murders a couple weekends ago. The Sheriffs Office refused to work with BCI in getting the info they needed to obtain search warrants.

Most of the deputies are good guys and do a good job. Its the administration that has the issues with EVERY agency in the county and beyond. When you can't work BCI, OSP, other village PD's etc... The problem might not be them, it's probably you. Can't wait till 2016!!!!

You could be right about there being some good ones. Unfortunately the good ones cannot last long under an administration of " so called " leadership that operates the way it is currently. One could say, sit tight and wait the " bad ones " out until , hopefully at election time it changes. I am not sure history will show that to be the case , most unfortunately. But again, politics is politics and with all of the " players " in Brown County who are involved to some extent in ALL of the " WRONGDOING ", it will take some time to sort through them all as they will be throwing each other under the bus trying to save whats left ( if anything ) of the worthless selves !
