Looks like they have upgraded their website and firewall. Must have ditched the Compaq 226 for a newer model! I can't Boolean my way in anymore. Their firewall of the past was just asking "visitors" not to phrase their inquiries in a Boolean format. I wonder, in the immortal words of Steven Quincy Urkel, "Did I do that?" I bet Steve misses his MS DOS. Some changes going on at the Brown County Press website as well. Don't think of it as "hacking", think of it as "internet security verification".

Yes - you all by yourself made made the billion dollar Versa Capital Management change their website in a small county in the middle of no where Ohio,

Think about the forum to which I posted. This more to rag on Steve Triplett's Luddite nature than anything else. There is no way Versa Capital Management is ever going to recoup that expense. The paper is just not financially viable. Just messin' with Steve. And you know I do it with love, but I give the paper 2 years tops in it present format.

The Ripley Bee will likely stop printing, but I think they News Democrat has awhile to go. No where else to get news of Brown County. All you get is rumor mill or sensationalism from the Brown County Press.

The Brown County Press is doing a much better job at getting news than the News Democrat. What "sensationalism" are you talking about?

Neither paper is worth the paper it's printed on. Neither is the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The Ledger Independent, now there's a real newspaper. People actually steal it. It's that good. And it's got comics.

Too many people and the information age lol, seriously, that's why cable TV subscribers are leaving in hoards and newspaper subscribers are following suit. It's pretty bad when you see a Brown County story on CNN Headline news and NOT MENTIONED in any local newspaper or TV station. Do you REALLY THINK no one in brown county sees this on CNN???????? But the common citizen, be on the front page and you know it. People really are paying attention to their world and turning off Honey Boo Boo, Duck Hunters, and not so worried about who got kicked off dancing with the stars or survivor. About time.

I miss the old Trading Post. Bought a lot of stuff through it. It's hard to take a good poop with today's papers. I'm done reading before I'm done pooping.

I would agree with this post ! Where is the respect when a man is trying to honor Obama through his morning " Constitution " ? Can we step up the news game a bit ? Bring back another copy of the Clinton Chronicles or some Pre Hillary Campaigning..... Better yet, a story about Ms Hawkins and how her efforts appear to have failed both her client and BCSO. That would probably get my Gastrointestinal Tract moving !

Good, getting tired of the old Sears & Roebuck catalogs, they aren't as generous with mailing them out like they used to !

Try The Old Farmer's Almanac. It comes with a hole pre-drilled, so you can hang it on a nail for convenience.

I love getting the newspaper going out on the deck and read them with a cup of coffee in the morning, I find it relaxing. Sometimes the articles are boring, but it's brown county, sometimes there's not much going on.

It's Brown County. What did you expect? Go for papers with comics. You will enjoy your mornings more. Also, decent crossword puzzles help, especially during long toilet sessions. Best columns in the News Democrat are "The Ole Fisherman" and the occasional "Rock Dock". My Grandpa used to work with George. He's a first class guy.

I just read the local papers to check out Sam Talley's fascist comments. Gotta stay up with my competition.

I met Mr. and Mrs. Rooks at several craft shows in the area and you're right - they are just salt of the earth folks.

As for the newspapers, I am a Cincinnati Enquirer addict, being from that area. The first thing I do is read the comics, then work the puzzles - all except Sudoku which I can't master. But I agree with reading the local papers too. After living here a little while, I know so many of these folks and especially with the schools it is fun to read their accomplishments in school. I love to see the 50th anniversary stories and new babies. It very much reminds me of my home town and our small paper. The Press has more news but covers a larger area whereas the Democrat is mostly just Georgetown. I love it and would hate to see it go away. Seems like everything dies in Georgetown. This place won't let anything live and thrive.
