Election time means different things to different people.
Things like neighbor hood watch, crime intervention or opening parks become chips to get introduced to the public and thus seemingly elected.
The sad thing is that the job of Antioch's politicians is not at all about these warm & fuzzy things, it's contracts and development.
The foo, foo, is to create puff pieces to make up the illusion of a candidate.
Just antics to get you to recognize them.
Like the Mary Roacha Day Care center.
What did Mary Rocha do?
Pay for?
It's simply a matter of lending her name and being connected to day care and the women's vote.
Who was Barbara Price?
But we named a park after her...
Just any 'ol politician while in office will do.
This self agrandizing is against long standing laws but they do it anyway.
They all do it.
Watch Frietas transform the re opening of City Park at 10th and A street into an event to mark his election.
It has been closed more than a year and the area without a park but that's just Antioch politics.
It's opening will be planned to coincide with votes and pretend he or some other political invented a new Antioch.
The park was fine the way it was but now we have new plastic for kids to play on and cops to watch at night to keep stray syringes from sticking a child and giving him or her AIDS or bums from breaking their bottles.
Unless I am wrong it will be rechristened with some warm fuzzy name that means something in the election and tax payers fit the bill.
After the election it will be as the murals in the down town, sad and fading.
Or the ferry boat, most don't remember but was to revitalize the waterfront.
Like the Mary Roacha Day care center these projects show at election time and are designed with your vote in mind. We as taypayers pay for it.
Politics in America is just cheese we pay for and the elections office is happy to fix us up with that rather than see even a half assed honest election.
The school bonds, parifrial canal or other borderline criminal activity is just dress and cover.
City Park is just one more touchy feely, in a long line awaited by spray painters, junkies and vandals.
All waiting for their 15 minutes of glory along with the creeps who are hand picked for us by a system needing an overhaul years ago.

BTW I don't think all cops are corrupt. Not even a majority. Unless the town is rigged.

These plants make billions on our clean air and water and they pretend dumb at Antioch city hall like a cat who just swallowed the canary.
They just voted in a POWER PLANT while they were having meetings about our 'Quality of Life'
They said if our lawns weren't green enough they would fine us a 100 dollars a day and then gave away billions of gallons of our DRINKING WATER to a power plant!!!!!
We can't park an RV or leave a trash can out cause our 'Quality of Life' committee says it's an eye sore and then they vote in a power plant in our city.
They freakin NUTS!

They want to stuff people into an industrial area just like Houston.
Putting the poor on land all contaminated for big profits then saying whatever to get re -elected.
Re zone when ever like.
That ain't no home.
One minute residentual the next industry.
How can we raise our kids when they put us in harms way.

"Need a Hero" needs to understand that it is only the Antioch Unified School Board that can put forward a "school tax". The City Council has nothing to do with it.

And, there are no plans for the City to seek any kind of "police tax".

There are enough stupid people who voluntarily pay a "police tax" when they get a speeding ticket or get cited for having expired license plates.

When this city council doesn't INSIST on collecting the MONEY from developers to pay for use of our existing schools then they ROB us taxpayers.
It will be a 'Utility tax not a police tax and there's a lot of law breakers that should pay but don't,,,
As for your hero worship of Antioch City council members I can only say "YOU MUST BE ONE"
Either that or those good 'ol boys on the chamber of commerce who want us to turn our city inside out for their profits and don't care about families or seniors and certainly have ZERO feeling for Nostalgia or sentiment.

What the petrol pigs want is to get there plants in place before new cleaner technoligy can fuel our needs.
It's like someone who smokes, smoking more in anticipation of quiting.
This, more than anything I have so far seen, exposes that Donald P Freitas was given his job of clean water manager for the county because they did not want that job going to a real environmentalist.
The prime directive of every public official is 'Heath and safety.
Antioch should prosecute their city council for polluting their city.
There is no reason to further pollute Antioch other than a bribe (provided they got one) because there is already too much pollution in Antioch.

That means they are killing little children that will later get cancer.
Someone ought to string them up...
The oil industry has run this country into a big hole filled with crude. PERIOD
Making a petrol fired electric plant ought to be TREASON!!!!!!!!!!
AND THEY WANT OUR DRINKING WATER TO DO IT!!!!!!!!!!

Read this one, forget the petty crime they want you to foolow cause who cares.
Not all the police in the world can stop crazies and they (city hall) is importing them.
Wait till they tell you we need more rental apartments too meet the demand because of all the foreclosures.
Why would there be people than there was rentals?
Why would people with bad credit be wanted in Antioch?
The city council doesn't care about our city and is using it to get what they want not what we want. THATS WHY!!!!!
They are cruel to our police and fire services and can't kiss up to developers enough...

We need to get rid of our city council.
They want Antioch to be a GHETTO.
Just look what they are doing to the down town on 'L street.
