Bethel man charged with DUI on Hudson Street

A 52-year-old resident was charged with driving under the influence Saturday night, police said.

That house makes the town dump look like the Taj Mahal. Seriously, that place is a blight on the whole neighborhood.

I also really think that trash-talking a family who is having problems instead of supporting them or at the very least realizing that certain family members need help at the moment is despicable and scummy behavior. Just because the problems that the Stavolas are having are very public mean nothing; look at your own lives before speaking. The house that is in need of repair is only a symptom of bigger problems. Why don't all you trash talking people go over there with some plywood and apple pie and offer to help them out instead of acting all high and mighty and acting as though you've never had problems before. If you are so concerned with the well being of the neighborhood and its residents, do something positive and try to get to KNOW the people before judging them!

What's funny is that hardly anyone knows the real story of why "the son" is in prison. Let me just say that while he was no angel, he did not deserve the punishment he received, and you can thank corrupt Bethel's finest for that. If you really only knew.

If a kid riding a quad is a big deal, you clearly need a fuller life. Seriously.

You're right. "The son" did not deserve the punishment he received -- he deserved much worse. And let's talk about the "real story": how he pulled a "gun" during a drug deal and got sent away for armed robbery. How about the drug syringes we found by the playground in Hudson Glen ... wonder where they came from?? What if YOUR young child had picked one of them up? This family has created nothing but drug dealers, trespassers and theives. And no wonder, what a great role model "dad" is. Most of Hudson Glen has, through the years, appealed to the "parents" to get their kids under control and keep them from speeding through our neighborhood in stolen cars driven by underage, wasted drivers. Bring them plywood and apple pie? Yeah, right.

Kind of tough to make an argument for them now, huh? That family has been a drain on the resources of Bethel for long enough. Keep the kids in jail where they belong and maybe if the father goes to jail they will have to pack up and get out. The one I feel sorry for is the sister. By all accounts she is a pretty good kid. Unfortunately she is doomed because of her environment.

Good job Bethel PD. If anything, they don't get arrested enough. It's like taking candy from a baby arresting those boys. Guns, drugs or assault on any given night. Take your pick.

The "real story"? Committed a crime, was ID'd, was spotted, fled from the police through backyards, fought with the officer pursuing him and had to be tased not once, but twice, after ripping the electrodes from his body from the first shot. And then his brother and his friends were almost arrested for interfering, and cheering him on like he was some kind of a hero.

And let's see, their "situation"? Two (yes, two) Cadillac STS's parked on the front lawn (or what's left of it), what was a relatively new Dodge Ram pickup (now wrecked), stolen street signs tacked up, weight lifting equipment, a house that could quite possibly be condemned (I don't even want to hazard a guess as to what it looks like inside), and I can't remember what else strewn all over the place. It looks like Katrina ran through it. They're one mobile home away from an episode of COPS. THEY, and THEIR property, degrade the entire neighborhood. If this were Danbury, the UNIT team would take action on the place. The "barracks" on Town Hill ave. are more appealing.

It's also pretty safe to assume who did/does the damage to the kids playground at the condo's. Too bad they can't pin the attempted torching of the kids playground on any of them. But then I suppose they were all home doing their homework that night, right?

Let's not forget the "sister" who was caught, spray-paint in hand, defacing the playground at Hudson Glen. Nothing like explaining to your toddler what F *** means, when some trash from down the street has spray-painted it on your swing set. And this was AFTER we were all nice to her and let her hang out in our neighborhood. See how she repaid our kindness? Maybe we should've given her some apple pie and then she wouldn't have turned into a delinquent like her brothers.

It is very, very unethical to go into as much detail as you are going into on a public forum. Regardless of the fact that much of the information being discussed is public, the Stavolas are still a very real family in Bethel with very real feelings, that have to live in this community. That is why I stopped my commenting in great detail after stating, "If you only knew the REAL story."

I already know the sources behind these comments, anyway, so these comments should be no surprise to me. You likely have no idea who I am, but I could care less, anyway, because unlike other neighbors, I will always state what I feel is right, and can look past the fact that a neighbor has cars on their front lawn.

All I am going to say is that you can go into as much detail as you wish about the specific conditions of the house, and how it brings down the neighborhood. No one can deny that it's in bad shape. However, again, I can assure you, all of this is a symptom of bigger problems, and I highly doubt that the Stavolas LIKE the way that their house looks.

Regarding the children, some that you are discussing are MINORS, and they should not be discussed here, and their cases should not be discussed either. Hearsay and assumptions should not be discussed, either.

None of the Stavolas are intravenous drug users and none of them have ever been convicted (or even accused) of using or having anything to do with narcotics or drugs that would or could be used intravenously. It is an absolute assumption without any basis to say that they have left needles in your Condo playground.The Stavolas DO NOT USE NARCOTICS. That just shows how much you don't know.

Also, in discussing the "real story", again, get your facts straight. You talked about a person being ID'd and then running through backyards, just to be tased by police a little while later. That was NOT Jake Stavola, or a Stavola resident at all. I am not going to name who that was and give you the satisfaction of knowing more, because clearly you are uninformed.

This has gotten so off-topic that it's ridiculous. Have any of you ever watched the show Intervention on A&E? If so, do you think that the show's participants should be "locked up with the key thrown away", because they are addicts/have problems? Because THAT will really cure addiction, for sure. I still bet that NONE OF YOU that are commenting have ever had a conversation with the Stavola family without being accusatory and judgmental. If you had, you would not feel that way that you do. I can understand some of your frustrations, but the way you wish harm upon the family and refer to them so inhumanely is just sick.
