This, I suppose, is a love letter & thank you note to the good folks of Bethany, WV & to Bethany College. For generations, you have nurtured my family - instilled a sense of community, provided me with a touchstone and haven, reminded me of my obligation and responsibilities, and most of all, welcomed me home time and again. I carry you all in my heart despite the separation of the miles, and the lessons you have taught me - how to be a person, how to be a responsible member of a community, how to cherish and appreciate my world - these are lessons that I hope that my life reflects to friends who have no idea about the wondrous world that nestles in the Panhandle. To you belongs my heart; and for giving me a family beyond measure, I do so thank you. To the students at the College - cherish these days because they will sustain you. To the townies, thank you for welcoming us every year and opening your homes and hearths and hearts to us. And to my family - I miss you. Thank you for raising me with discipline and expectation, with wonder, and most of all, with common sense blanketed with love.
