This is why you don't make a high school KID a full time member until after graduation.Very typical of Valley Depts.
With terrible consequences.

I think you can't judge all Volunteer Firefighters based on one persons poor judgement. The Volunteer firefighters give alot of their time training and helping the community. I hope the family of this young man help him to realize his poor judgement and get him the help and guidance he will need to overcome this terrible event.

It's not just volunteer companies that have this problem. Unfortunately a lot of people enjoy fire to the point where it becomes a psych. problem- not enough is done to help prevent this- I thought the valley learned its lesson after the three vollunteers in Shelton a couple years back.

Brian's grandfather was a local Fire Chief for many years, certainly the boy was taught not to play with fire.

Once again the article doesn't say how the fire was set...once again no details for people to draw reasonable conclusions. None the less this young boy put countless lives in jeopardy. It sure would be nice to know if he was a clumsy fool or a juvenile firestarter possibly being responsible for other area fires.

ok..then what the hell is the whole story? he dropped a cigarette by accident? or is it that he has a major screw loose and deserves to spend time behind bars. good luck having this nut rescue you from a burning building.
