I think it should be a wake up call for people like A.J. Speiler to wake up when they are driving and pay attention to the road. Because of one man's stupidity, a brilliant man has passed.

I have not read the charges that the police said were pending against the driver, who is apparently A.J. Speiler, the name given on another post.

I have not read the Winston paper every day so maybe I missed it.

Were any charges filled or was this another "oh, well" just another dead bike rider. Was this clown talking on his cell ? Did the police check it ?

I'm an avid road bike rider and feel the need to know what happened.

I know what you mean. Most people won't even slow down for the oncoming traffic to protect themselves much less slow down to keep from running over someone on a bicycle. It amazes me how wreckless some people will be just to keep from slowing down for a few seconds. There have been several times when I've seen an oncoming car have to be the one to slow down to keep from getting hit head-on. And then there's the people that won't move over an inch to pass even with no oncoming cars.
