Does anyone know how to go about starting a petition for a Dog Park in Berwyn? Or, does anyone know what you're supposed to do as far as talking to an Alderman, etc? Please let me know any suggestions you may have. Thanks!=)

Seems like a great idea. One of my neighbors has a white pitbull who is very well behaved because its owner is a rational person concerned about training and socializing it. Another neighbor has a most vicious teacup chihuahua that has had its teeth stuck in several shoes because they don't train it. Dogs reflect their owners to a great degree. One point I'd like to make if you are seriously going to look into it is to make sure that only Berwyn residents may bring their dogs, and that the dogs have all of their shots and tags. Here's a website that may help you -- has a "Contact Us" e-mail.

I also think this is a great idea, I just called the Berwyn park districts and they took my name and number for the dog park suggestion. I was told that there is not enough land in North Berwyn for one, but there is a possibility for one in South berwyn, Proska Park possibly. Go to www.Berwyn-il.gov and that will direct you to the park districts.

I was at Memorial Park in Blue Island and they have a no dogs allowed.
This dog problem is because the gang-bangers have to show off their pit bulls.
Once again another problem Berwyn has because of who's moving in!

I think when the Puertoricans go to that park they will have guns and their pitbulls, so I don't the park is a good idea.

Um, I would go on a sex offender map and see that Berwyn is caked with red dots everywhere. There is a sex offend (at least 2 on every block). Great place to raise a family, eh? All the yuppies think so; up and coming area my a**. Once again, Berwyn sucks.

FIRST of all, chicago doesnt block all of you who live in berwyn/cicero/stickney/etc and say ONLY CHICAGO residents can use our dog parks. So why the hell would you say that only berwyn residents can use it? Parks have and will always be for the public, and secondly for people who live on the cusp of the towns and can go in either city direction, that's not fair. And i have noticed berwyn getting alot of pitbulls, but remember pitbulls and other dogs in that category who get "jaw lock", they all have a natural meanstreak, I've worked with pits and i know u can have the best owner who trains them the best, and the pitts have been known to turn on the owners as well as neighbors. But thats with most dogs too, animals have natural wild instincts in them no matter how much you try to domesticate them. Dont ever forget that.

But I think a park in Berwyn, or any of these little towns around te area would be nice. I haven't been to the dog park in Forest Park, but I would hate having to travel that kind of distance just to get to a dog park. Theres a beeeaaauuuutiful dog park around the downtown area not far from the river, and it's very very nice. Black iron gates, different play sections with gates to enclose each area, and a little fountain shooting up for them to drink, and the whole park itself is gated in. Its very nice, so i think something like that would be a great idea for over here. And if there's dogs who are uncontrollable, then they should be banned from the park until they are properly trained. It's not rocket science.

Wow, what a jerk you are... Instead of judging the people in the area you should judge yourself first. Only an indiviudal as yourself would say something that has no value to what the question was. Before you make any remarks, you should of done some research. First, what's wrong with pitbulls? 2nd, and you must not be a dog lover.

You people are really uneducated about hispanics. Really all you can do is bash Berwyn and the hispanics, that's really a crying shame. I believe there are more important issues than that in our community, and world, but I can see you don't make it much better, no wonder some people are cruel, it is because of people just like you. I am Puerto Rican and proud of it, not everyone is bad, this applies to all races sweetie. For future reference you should research because all races have good and bad, not just Puerto Rican's. However if you were taught properly, you would know that. What you said, was very ignorant and uncalled for. I hope your children marry into the Hispanic world. Be careful for what you wish for, idiot!

Here's the judgement on me.
I don't write on walls.
I don't blast my music from my car.
I don't have my friend's kids from Chicago use my address so they can go to Morton West.

Now onto the pit bulls.
If people can't take care of themselves they should not have pit bulls or kids outta wedlock.
