The cancelation of the Holloween party is due to childish acts of certain people in the community. No word has been made yet on whether it will nolonger be done in general, but makeing a direct accusation towards the local Fire chief without having 100% of the information needed to pass that judgement is an act of the childish behavior that has costed the public the Holloween party this year. The old saying was once quoted " never bite the hand that feeds you". The person titled " local" would do well to remember that.

The Encyclopedia Americana says:“Elements of the customs connected with Halloween can be traced to a Druid ceremony in pre-Christian times. The Celts had festivals for two major gods—a sun god and a god of the dead (called Samhain), whose festival was held on November 1, the beginning of the Celtic New Year. The festival of the dead was gradually incorporated into Christian ritual.”—(1977), Vol. 13, p. 725.
The book The Worship of the Dead points to this origin:“The mythologies of all the ancient nations are interwoven with the events of the Deluge . . . The force of this argument is illustrated by the fact of the observance of a great festival of the dead in commemoration of the event, not only by nations more or less in communication with each other, but by others widely separated, both by the ocean and by centuries of time. This festival is, moreover, held by all on or about the very day on which, according to the Mosaic account, the Deluge took place, viz., the seventeenth day of the second month—the month nearly corresponding with our November.”(London, 1904, Colonel J. Garnier, p. 4) Thus these celebrations actually began with an honoring of people whom God had destroyed because of their badness in Noah’s day.—Gen. 6:5-7; 7:11.
Such holidays honoring “spirits of the dead” as if they were alive in another realm are contrary to the Bible’s description of death as a state of complete unconsciousness.—Eccl. 9:5, 10; Ps. 146:4.

Holidayz be holidayz, not allz of us be chistians. Thats why peoplez left england cuz of the choice theyz wanted to make to believe what they wants to believe. We all believe what weez want and to dis on another for theyz beliefs is racist in its own. I celebrate da dead, I love holloweenz but I dont expect peoplez to agree wit me. I gots to give ya mad props for yo knowledge of the book. Peace and love to ya.

If theres not going to be a holloween party then I don't feel that the fire department should have their senior citizens dinner this year. the holloween party is for the children (the future of our community) and the senior citizens dinner is for the older people of the community. If you don't have one I don't thaink you should have eaither

There's been complaining every year about how the holoween party has been run no matter who the fire department decides to let sit it up or who they can get to help. people just like bringing good thaings down by complaining to much. maybe the fire department not having one this year could be a good thing maybe people will stop complaining about it if the firefighters ever decide to put another one on for the community

This is crap!!! I went to the Halloween party here when I was a kid! My son decided this year to come to the town's party instead of trick-or-treating. He was and still is really looking forward to going and seeing his friends there. Now I'll have to tell him the bad news tomorrow. Thanks alot to whoever screwed it all up!!!:(

It has nothing to do with money the holloween party did not cost much money eaither most of the items for the holloween party were donated so before you go accusing the caunclation being due to costing money instead of making money get all of your facts straight.

You will always have a chosen few who complain. Those are the ones that never help with anything. You are only hurting the kids. The grown-ups don't count.

Santa will be here on December 19, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with all the trimmings. This is a promise. We love putting this on for the kids and will continue to do so as long as I am here.

The Halloween party does cost the Fire Dept. money! But it is not about the money. It is done for the kids, every year. It's the complaining that has to stop. If you don't like the party then don't come. It is as simple as that. The ones that love it far out weigh the ones that don't.

Forget about it. If they don't like it then tell them to go somewhere else. I never heard a kid complain. Did you?
