SOUTH BEND — Police are looking for Victor Jones, 41, a registered sex offender who has been missing for a couple of months with his 11-year-old daughter.

St. Joseph County Police said Jones has been sentenced to four years’ probation and received a suspended sentence of four years in jail on a charge of solicitation of a minor.

Detective Sonny Oakley said Jones notified Indiana authorities that he would be moving to Michigan.


When he did not show up for a hearing in Michigan on the custody of his daughter, a judge revoked his parental rights, according to police.

Jones apparently heard about the decision and has been in hiding with his daughter for about two months, according to Oakley.

Police have warrants charging Jones with kidnapping, failure to register as a sex offender and probation violation.

The detective said police have received many tips on Jones’ location since then but haven’t been able to find him. Now they are asking for help from the public.
