What does everyone think about the new superintendant, John Boyd and the HS principal, Chuck Marcum?
I think they are the first real administrators our school has seen since Jokerst and Dawson.
Jokerst??? Are you serious??? You MUST be joking!! |
They are the first unbias, fair and "in it for ALL the kid" we have had since I can remember. Look Wiseman, I can even say Dawson. When you go back and look at his past and how he conducted himself with Richie I can't say I respect the guy anymore, not that anyone cares about respect anymore. I hope they can weed through the growing pains and make this school and students respectable again!

I meant in it for ALL THE KIDS. And I meant I CAN'T respect Dawson. He has showed his true colors lately. Or maybe he is just gone nuts in his old age! We'll just chalk it up to whatever is convenient at the time!

Graet job in your selections board of education. Keep up the good work. |

From an outsiders perspective and experience, unless you have worked under both administrations you don't have the information to make that statement. Parents, Board members and the community rarely see the true colors of administrators, both the positives and the negatives. The students see a lot, but only the staff gets a true understanding of the good, bad, and the ugly. So, if you have worked under both sets of administators (and the ones in between) I would love to hear you compare and contrast each administration.

YOUVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME THE FIRST UNBIAS AND FAIR yeah right you go to school and see what i kids see and youll think again before saying unbias and fair |
I remember you never could get along with Jokerst because she wouldn't give you your way. |
I can assure you that I never worked for Jokerst, but by your statement, I'm assuming you did?

She was a great administrator. So was Dawson. Dawson tried to use his name to save some poor administrators jobs in the election. But he was good when he was in the big house. The people that followed him were not.

Everyday it becomes more clear that Richie/Mercer weren't doing things the right way. I never knew that students were shipped off for ISS? How ridiculous. And to Malden of all places. She literally hated Malden. Shows how much she cared about helping our troubled kids. She certainly paid someone for Saturday school. Granted I am sure a lot of people don't care about a child who is sent to ISS because you think he is just bad. There are a lot productive citizens in the world who were abused and etc. that caused lashing out who are thankful someone cared enough to help them. Anyway, looks like our school wasn't the "perfect" system she portrayed it to be. I for one am excited to see the promising changes headed our way. It is about time all children are considered equal and all are given a fighting chance.

1 Probably more than all of last year put together. From what I hear, there's no messing around. About two strikes and you're out. Ritchie and Mercer worked with the kids and families far longer than they should have (yes, I guess bending the rules a little) but they did it and then when they did do it, they were crucified. That's the good part of this administration. They don't care whose toes they step on. They're not from Bernie and they are showing everyone who's the boss. Like it use to be when the administrators ran the school, not the parents. |

Yea, kinda like when the past administration recommended to the board they fire Rodgers and they did and there was a mini uprising. The board rehired him even though the cta's position was not to. Ritchie was hammered for that one. Now here are, a couple of years later and he's been fired along with his assistant, and it's quiet as a mouse. No uprising this time, huh. Guess, it's who you are!
Rodgers was given a second chance because the board found out Mercer and Ritchie didn't tell them all the facts. Looks like a second chance is all you get, doesn't matter who you are. Seems fair to me!
Wait a second. Rodgers has been fired? And who is his assistant? |

Let's hope we go about selecting a vb coach differently with the new administration. The previous administration sent around e-mails to every teacher that worked at the school and asked if anyone was interested in coaching volleyball. The previous administration's ignorance when it came to sports is ultimately what did them in. They never could figure out how to make the right decision. Their hiring record when it came teachers was also less than spectacular. If you want to see an uprising hire another coach from within the school. The parents will do everything in their power did get the canidates that are up for reelection off the board if this happens. If you don't want to hire a coach Mr. Blevins I promise you I will find someone that will when the votes comes around again next year.

I agree. I think some of the board members let their personal values influence what is best for the students. Just because they didn't play sports they don't value coaches. Many parents and students do. It is their job to represent the school. They use excuses like we have no openings but there are always openings. Snider and McGowan and Zoll want to get things back to the way they use to be. But unfortunately it takes four people to get anything good done in the school. And it seems like we always have three.

Post #15..I guess a poor excuse is better than no excuse.
Post #17..Ever think it could be about funds? Mr. Blevins and Mr. Owens would be crazy to even want to run again. I would say they would have to love and care about the school a lot to file for re-election. Post #18..You're joking, right? |

Parents and players if you want a good coach you better do something now. There are so many things you can do to improve your chances of getting a good coach. Parents take your students to every school board member's house. Have your student explain to the board member their desire to play volleyball and have a coach that can put them in a position to be successful during high school and after high school. Parents attend the next board meeting. Get on the agenda. Sign documents indicating the desire to get a vb coach. Not a teacher that is willing to coach vb. If you can get the board to commit to hiring a coach let the most knowledgeable people select the coach. Botsch, Marcum and Boyd have the connections to get you the coach you need. They are more qualified to select a coach than the school board. Let them find the coach. I know some vb fans are against the AD but he has the best shot to land you the coach you want. He might also want a good vb coach. Go talk to him. He probably has more connections with coaches in Southeast Missouri than anyone that works at the school. Listen to him. He might have some ideas on what might work. He might know someone that is looking for a job that would be good. But he can't go get a coach unless the board gives him something to offer the coach. It starts with the board. Next the administration has to give the AD some authority to go get a coach. Then the hardest part is the AD has to find a coach. The easy part is the board giving the go on getting the coach. The funding should not be an issue at all. VB coaches are not that expensive. If you have to create a job for one year until a teacher leaves do it but it probably won't be necessary. Even if the AD gets the authority to get a coach it might be hard to get one. But the sooner other coaches know about the opening and Bernie can make them an offer the better shot you have to get a coach. But you better do something now parents.
