Narvel was honored at a very nice ceremony and brought into the Dunklin County Hall of Honor a few years ago.

A display of some of his material is available for you to see/visit at the Hall of Honor Museum at the Dunklin County Library, second floor, in Kennett.

My family grew up with his family. I use to call Narvel's mom, (Granny number three) and I went to school with his son Narvel Jr. (Bubba) I was in the military service and stopped to see one of his shows with some class mates from high school, Bubba played in Narvel's band at time. There were a lot of people in the crowd from oversea's that had stopped in Memphis just to see him perform..lot of people from Europe (mainly England) are big fans of his. If he isn't on the sign to Malden then he should be.

Sounds like we have enough Narvel support to warrant at least a couple of "Home of Narvel Felts" signs. As a resident of the area,(I don't know why Topix shows me from St. Louis) I'm really ashamed that there hasn't been more done in the way of a tribute. I can't tell you the number of towns I've been through that have some sort of signs, banners, etc to let the rest of the world know that someone "famous" is from that particular place. How about it Malden and Bernie? How do we go about doing something?
topix shows up on here from where your Internet Provider shows from.

I remember Mrs. Felts at the school. Very nice lady. Humble beginings. We need the school to recognize her also.

I know who you are lol. Your sister is married to my cousin James and yes Stacia is very good friends wth Kim.
To all the people who have posted such great comments about Narvel, we thank you very much.We are very proud of him and really appreciate all your comments.
Can anyone tell me where the diner is in Bernie that has all of Narvels albums on the wall? Stacia and I would love to go there and see it and maybe visit a while.

I have known Narvel Felts since I was a kid. My family lived across Hwy 25 from his family while I was yonger. We moved to Bernie but I still kept a relationship with him and Bub as well. I was a young drummer in a band and starting out, needed some extra equipment for a show. I went by the Felts home and Bub allowed me to use some of his. I remember jamming with him and Narvel the Marvel...lol...at the Old Mill Room in Malden on a Sunday afternoon. I have always respected the humbleness of Narvel...he, unlike some, never got to big to stop and say hi and talk, whether it was in the grocery store, wal mart or from the stage. He deserves to be recognized as one of SeMOs sons and the cities of Malden and Bernie should embrace the legacy he has given to our small portion of the world. Yes it is unfortunate that his fame is more prevalent across the pond...so come on..show some love to a man that has put our towns on the map.

have known Narvel for years, I knew Bubba as well, Narvel is not only talented but a true gentleman!
By the way Norman Swafford you're a great guy too. You did my daughter's photography for years. You're very talented too, just in another way then singing...lol
Love to you both, and RIP Bubba! We love and miss you.

Rockin' Robin just a note on Mr. Swafford...he can sing!!!!!!!!! I used to play drums at the Bootheel Jamboree in Bernie and "The Judge" would entertain us with a tune I believe was called...Frauline. So beneath his photographic skills lies the heart of an entertainer. You are welcome Judge.

My mom used to work at a drive-in resturant in malden in the 60's and she said that Narvel was a pervert. He thought he was hot stuff back.

I've NEVER heard anything like this about Narvel. Like I said on the post that started this discussion 2 years ago, I'm not a fan and have never met him but still I've never heard anything negative spoken about the man. I occasionally see him around Malden, at Walmart or the Post Office and he is always very polite and friendly. Please don't use this discussion page to try and tarnish the reputation of someone who has done nothing but good as far as I can tell. Perhaps your mother needs to refresh her memory.

I don't think that Narvel knew how to be a pervert. As far as being "Hot Stuff". He had the right to feel that way. He was a "Rock and Roller" who made records. Who else from Hicksville in S.E. Missouri was rubbing elbows with the big stars out of Memphis.
I was really happy for him when he got the national recognition with all of his hits and albums and TV exposure in the 1970s. If anybody in S.E. Missouri deserves a sign across the road bragging on a home-grown boy, he does.

Daily Horoscope for December 9

Scorpio

If something is bothering you, it's important that you say so now, loudly and clearly. It's no good bottling things up any longer because that will only lead to resentment and a slow-burning anger. However, it's important that you know when to shut up too, otherwise you might overstate your case or sound so demanding that you turn others against you.
