Jury convicts grandmother of sex crimes

We all haved to make a few assumptions when we read the media's articles. I have no trouble believing that mommy and daddy do drugs- but most readers know only what we read. I don't have much respect for the NM court system or its' judges, they are typically misinformed and have a tendency to be less than smart and/or special interests. But a jury is a bit different. Perhaps this granny is innocent, but the jury found her guilty. I rarely hear anything about Female-female child molestation. So that part of the story is wierd. A simple drug test can determine if gradma likes to tune out. If that part of the story was true, then perhaps that's why the jury believed the molestation charges.

I met the mother a couple of years ago. She came to me asking about therapy for her daughter. Funny how there are a few support groups for kids who lost a parent or sibling to murder but no peer groups for survivors of child abuse.
Prison is the best place for grandma but thanks to this new trend to blame ones actions of drugs I fear a good lawyer will get her released to a treatment program.
Its just the kind of world we live in now. Justice has taken a back seat to jail overcrowding.
My children are all grown with kids of there own now. I worry about the future my grandchildren will have.

As usual there are, or seems to be, two sides to every story and this one is no exception. If the women had a trial and is convicted that means she is GUILTY!! It means she's past the innocent until proven guilty in a court of law by her peers stage.

For all those that have inside information then I would suggest that you give that info to the DA's office and see if the DA will prosecute.

I'm hoping the jury convicted her on the basis of the evidence presented instead of just having an emotional knee jerk reaction. What about the evidence?

Just send the woman to prison and the prisoners will show her what happens to a child molester in prison.

It's not the JUDGE who decides if a defendant should take the stand. That's a strategic decision made by the defense team--which usually includes input from the defendant. So that leads me to believe there was a REASON she didn't take the stand in her own defense--past criminal history that would come out perhaps??

again we have people shooting from the hip and stating that we should go back and read everything about this case and we wil see that she is guilty. so i am to beleive what i read. i must say again from experiance that we rely on the jurors decision as solid gold. and trust nme i have seen to the contrary.

Did you ever think that because they had to hear what their daughter went through at the hands of a person they thought they could trust her GRANDMOTHER that they were crying? The last time i checked when i cried my eyes and face were red and puffy. Before you make judgements on people get your facts straight. Obvioulsy you are pretty jaded!!!!

I hope they hosed down the courtroom after they hauled that P.O.S. outa there. Too many bleeding hearts here....she was found guilty by trial. Period.

If you have children, hopefully nothing like this happens to them, and if it does I hope that you have the courage that the Victim and her Mother had to endure. This case is not about drugs it is about a RAPE of 2 little girls. Your comment is so ignorant. As far as the little girl and her mother getting what they deserved, You are right they got Justice for telling the Truth. Ok "Jane" you don't know anything are you apart of this family NO! I am and this girl is a LIAR her grandmother DID NOT "molest or rape" her, her mothers boyfriend did while her husband was in jail, and the mother sent the boyfriend out of town so they wouldn't do anything to him. And the granddaughter had told her teachers back then that he touched her, when the teachers asked the mom about this she denied it and said her daughter was a LIAR. Oh and the other little girl my COUSIN had said (on tape I might add)a dozen times that she was never raped or molested. There was NO evidence to prove that she was guilty!! Lets get our facts straight people! Don't believe everything the media tells you. And there are millions of people who have been found guilty and years to come they were innocent all along!!!!!

The evidence was found against Mary Esther Lovato not any boyfried. When I saw Mary Esther Lovato for the first time on the news she made it very clear that she could get any girl to drop their pants for her (that is so groase and disgusting). Just because you DON'T know about something someone did doesn't mean it didnt happen.
for example my daughter went to a store once and this guy was showing her and her little friend his (I'll call it a naked) well we said YEA we want him to pay for this its WRONG even for them to SHOW it if they dont do anything its STILL WRONG!! well, he got 3 years BUT, WE were NOT allowed to talk about his prior's that HE got off on at this NEW trial case. so he HAD done things like this before but it wasn't in the open or COULDNT be for the jurrors to find him guilty HAD we said something he would of gotten off. THANK GOD after the jury found him guilty the judge told them more less by telling him this time he was convicted. and you could see relief that the jury KNEW this wasn't his first time.

There was NO EVIDENCE to prove that she was guilty it was only based on word of mouth! So what if she is a lesbian, that has nothing to do with whats going on. I do feel sorry for the granddaughter because she's gonna have a hard life growing up. All i can do is pray for my aunt Esther, as well as for her granddaughter and the mother. God will expose the truth!!
