My friend and I went outside to welcome Dec. 21, 4am this morning and have heard a steady hum, like steady aircraft, yet it doesn't change or we can't see aircraft. It has been going on for over an hour. Does anyone else hear this? What is it?

We hear the HUM all the time. We live near UNM! And somewhat close to Kirkland AFB!

if you live within hearing distance of an airport, early morning is when mechanics start up aircraft that had been serviced the night before. Not much different than testing a car after servicing, or warming up your car in the morning. Sound travels a long way in the quiet early morning hours.

move next to an airport you should expect noise. Don't like the noise, don't move there.

So the mechanics were performing a hum job on the jet engines?

I think the sound is the whine of progressive liberals each day...next to squealing pigs...they are the most noisy and disgusting creatures...

"Progressive liberals" is a pretty big term for a brainwashed thumper like you. Anyone who disagrees with your extremist views is a progressive liberal in your bigoted eye.

Is that "whine" served with or without cheese & crackers?

I live in the NE Heights and don't hear any constant drones, hums or other unusual consistent noises.

Drone aircraft. Sometimes at night and if you bother to look up and by way of their wingtip lights you can see them doing circuits over various parts of the metropolitan area. Mystery solved. Well I suppose the reason as to why we have drone aircraft circling above is still a mystery but I'm sure the government has some b.s. excuse that it's for our safety.

I sleep better knowing that our US government are using drones in Mexico for our safety and to monitor anything you believe are getting away with.
