Seems that the ACLU is into nine of the ten Bill of Rights. Amazing that the Bill of Rights was actually written as one proposed amendment to the Constitution, comprised of twelve Articles. Ten of which were ratified and later renamed as individual amendments. It is actually all one amendment. Mess with one and you mess with the others.
But remember, it is a Living Document.

The government has absolutely shred the Bill of Rights in the last decade or so.

New CIA boss John Brennan endorses torture, assassination of unidentified strangers (including Americans) without due process, and spying on all Americans.

As such, it is fitting that Mr. Brennan specially requested that he be sworn in on a draft of the Constitution lacking the Bill of Rights.

A draft which doesn’t even begin with the famous preamble we all know and love:

We the people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America ….

But rather starts with:

We the People of the States of New-Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode-Island and Providence Plantations, Connecticut, New-York, New-Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North-Carolina, South-Carolina and Georgia, do ordain, declare and establish the following Constitution for the Government of Ourselves and our Posterity….

That has a very different tone from the final version of the Constitution. And again, this version has no Bill of Rights.

california leads the way. send cop/troops in and make sure that a spouse of a person accused of violating gun laws is also void of having guns. that is the way to control gun violence. have mental health workers make the determination.

DHS can buy fully-automatic AR-15s and call them "PDW"'s (Personal Defense Weapons). You buy a semi-auto AR-15 and it called an Assault Weapon. Now that is using terms of art in a creative manner. And why do they continue to feed the conspiracy theorists out there with all this show of buying ammo and armored vehicles? Polarizing? Hoping for some kind of Oklahoma City-like incident? Why the swagger and show?

Listen, those of us who've lived in Albuquerque for decades, and know all the crap Albuquerque P.D. has been involved in, sometimes with the help of US Navy Seals, as in the Manuel Ramirez case, the Detective Bruce McAllister case, etc., don't need to be lectured about conspiracy theorists. They're not just theories at the Albuquerque P.D. Latest scandal to involve Albuquerque PD, BCSO and other New Mexico law enforcement agencies? The stripping of inner parts of weapons confiscated, or "bought" at those stupid gun buy back dog and pony shows, and sale to huge, on line firearms' parts retailers. I'm talking about barrels, spring guides, springs, buffers, buffer springs, sight parts, bolts, bolt carriers, etc. It wouldn't be so bad if the money was going into MUNICIPAL coffers instead of private pockets. Sooner or later this is going to hit the fan and not only in New Mexico!

BTW, if terrorists have pulled off acts of mayhem in countries with far fewer civil liberties and far greater numbers of heavily armed soldiers/police on their streets, what makes you think we will be safer on the streets of the USA? With the help of the New Mexico state legislature and Washington state granting drivers' licenses, and those "Muslims of America" training camps throughout the USA, one of these days we're all going to be in for a very horrific surprise. God not will it so.

Perhaps a reason for concern but also keep in mind that over time criminal gangs have become more dangerous to everyone because they have better weapons and are always keeping up with the latest in technology. As far as I'm concerned there should always be civilian oversight on law-enforcement just as law-enforcement keeps its eye on crime. Call it keeping society in balance.
