All the more reason to combine the two governmental entities as one follows the others lead and each is a sandbox for the players in both.

Now if BernCo were smart<gasp!> they'd delay this a few months and see how things work out within the CoA, but nah, expecting those inept turds to do so is like expecting..., well, you get the picture.

I don't have a problem with it, just with BernCo way of addressing it. They are several peas short of a casserole when it comes to planning.

A C&P from post 1:

BernCo seldom takes the time to really think things thru before moving or not moving on them. MDC comes to mind, remember, they pushed the issue and St law said the county was the entity to run it, but nobody bothered to visit that until BernCo got mouthy. Then when things went tits-up practically, they tried to get the city to pay,and the city & st both told them NOT, you asked for it, you got it, your problem. BernCo is really good at stepping on its crank as the past has borne out.

Point being they, IMO, should let the city take the lead for several months on minimum wage, see how things shake out, and if for the most part acceptable (as I suspect it will be) adopt it and tweak if necessary for those things that did not. This is the one chance they have of making a better decision w/o penalty to themselves and the taxpayers(lawsuits???). There are not that many people adversely affected as not that many work in the unincorporated part of BernCo as opposed to the CoA.

I think I'm having a "aha" moment right now it must be the lack of peas but to solve that crisis I say just get a smaller casserole.
It's about time they increase the minimum wage there. When I first moved there I couldn't believe how far behind that state was in increasing the minimum wage.
At that time my states minimum wage was 7.50 when NM's was still at a sulking 6.15. then you wonder why people have to look to the government for what you refer to as entitlements.
When they do increase it make it by a couple of dollars and not cents.

I forgot to mention that there are people out there that would love to afford to fill up that sparse casserole that many of you take for granted.
Not all of us are brainiacs with degrees but we work just as hard and our pay should reflect that.
