Let's see...."high on Valium"? What testimony is needed? She was under the influence and caused a death. End of issue!

No wonder NM has such high insurance rates (was SHE insured?)

Drunks know that these moron judges will go light, so what's the deterrent?

Not true. Did you read "Jury deliberates fatal DWI case"? This woman drove drunk, hit a car and a child was killed and our attorneys found her guilty of Child Abuse. Explain that to me?

Wow. Four whole years for taking the life of another person. Nice to see that justice is being served. I'm so proud to live here.

Four years? Try two 18 year sentences.

Kayla, from the article...

"Yvonne Singleton faces four years in prison for the 2005 crash that killed a 69-year-old woman in Rio Rancho. "

Gee, could this kind of thing have something to do with another article about too many cars being impounded from drunk drivers? Good ol' New Mexico, let em' go, let em' go, let em' go!

Outrageous! You plea bargain and only end up with 4 years for killing someone. She should be locked up for life as she is a menace to society. She moved here from Michigan. We certainly don't need more people like this moving to New Mexico.

Yvonne Singleton was not just under the influence of Valium. She had many other drugs in her system as well including a high level of Oxycodine, a highly addictive drug. The level in her system was enough to knock out the average person for a LONG time. It is about time people realized that driving under the influence of ANYTHING can be, and in this case was, deadly. Four years is nothing! She should have gotten 10!

Yvonne Singleton has a long police record. She had a previous DWI, previous child abuse, neglect and abandonment, and on and on. Her previous DWI should prove she knew what she was doing. Second conviction of Driving under the influence should at least double her senctence. Check the records, under her PREVIOUS name!

Thinking about this today... just a few days ago marked 5 years without her on this earth. Yvonne gets to spend this Chrismas with her family, including her daughter that she endangered the life of by improperly restraining her in the carseat and then taking drugs and getting behind the wheel and driving with her in the car. She was let out early, way to stick it to them NM. If people know they can serve less than 3 years for killing someone, it's not that scary... now tell ssomeone they will spend a MINIMUM of 10, I think things might change a bit... Along with required therapy, there are so many things that need to change in the NM laws before the drivers do...

She was high on a lot more than valium She had 10 drugs in her system and she was not insured. She also had her 3 year old daughter in the car with her!
