The Navajo Nation Council should take action on this debt and get it paid immediately. The Council should discuss these important issues and make wise decisions on the Navajo Nation's funds, instead of throwing money around on unnecessary expenses such as capital improvements, etc (we haven't seen new construction in our communities for years). Our council delegates are selfish, they are spending every cent in the Undesignated Reserve each time funds are replenished. What a waste of precious resources.

You can't use education funds for expenses incurred for autopsies performed by the OMI.

It doesn't work that way with Federal funding.

After reading all these comments, I know the Navajo Nation can figure out how to pay this bill. If it can't be paid immediately, we need to budget the cost into FY'08 proposed budget. We can't just ignore it, it's an obligation that we need to pay. This unpaid bill makes the Navajo Nation look very bad. The programs that are responsible for this bill need to meet with BIA and get this straighten out before another year passes.
