Suspicous, there was no change of venue on the stolen gun charges brought against Dep. Rodriquez , how can I be so sure? I was on the jury panel, and half of us saw it one way the other totally opposite. As for Mr. Light, having money isnt a crime, but using it in a manner that corrupts young people is wrong. What really went on is subject to debate, Im thinking he is a step above a pervert, more of a PROvert, LOL. Anybody else feel that way?
i also know x dep, rodriguez, and his bro also that used to be state cop, and the kid who the gun in the beginning got confiscated from was brazeal, i covered the whole story, this was in 1997,if im not mistaken after click defeated childress and lewis, the reason i say that is because they were going back and forth, one was sheriff then the other, for about 16 yrs, click i know got the sheriff job in 1996, and after that was when the outgoing sheriffs spilled the beans,on chunky,in other words like vengence, on the gun issue, i still wonder untill today how come never nothing was said about the gun until after the 1996 sheriff election, can one of you jokers answer me that???

I dont know what difference it makes on the change of venue. He has already been given permission to leave the country on a family vacation. Do you all think he's really coming back, I highly doubt it. All parents out there who were victims of Brad Light get a lawyer and sue him for corrupting and contributing to your children. He is a sick man.

You guys talk about this mans Innocence and Guilt and Evidence and Money like if you were there at his trial. If your getting your information from the paper in Carlsbad. Even the kid "reporter" wasn't there the whole time. The "reports" need to sell papers. Lies are so much more fun aren't they? If we only wanted to know the truth we would never watch TV or read News Papers. Sounds like since Brad has money he should feel bad about that. Believe the bad is so much easier. My head is down in shame for Carlsbad. Its a beautiful place with very sad and unforgiving people that are misinformed.

money does talk, but if you have the money to do it with, then y does it matter. and brad isn't the only one in this town that "hands out" drugs either, so all of you haters need too figure it out that there is a bigger drug problem in carlsbad than a "rave."

<quoted text>its not hate, i dont even know him, its called fairness, and money does talk, you take the average person that is accused of a crime, and lets say for instance he has a $750,000.00 cash only bond, you can rest assure hes not going anywhere, maybe except to the shitterr and back to his bunk, then comes the lawyer, a public defender fresh out of school, maybe never has defended more then half a dozen cases, about the only thing he can say is to throw himself at the mercy of the court, but if you got the money, you can easily bail out, easily hire a good attorney, and easily appeal the conviction to a hire court, and the change of venue, which means to have it in another county or city, so money does have alot of weight even in the judicial system...
wonder if his bail money was returned prior to his canadian trip?

Money has always talked in carlsbad. But hopefully things will begin to change with our new mayor. It took carlsbad twenty years to catch one of our biggest and well known drug dealers only because a task force was brought in from out of state. Changing the venue suits me just fine at least he will be out of our city for the time being and maybe carlsbad will weed out these people no matter how much money they have.

The gun and how he handled that matter was just a glimps of how crooked Chunky is. When his nephew, Wobby ward, ran off the road and killed Brittany Dunn, Chunky and McCandlis (both related to Bobby Ward) did everything they could to get him off.

i beleive you 100% amigo, and that mc candlis or how ever he spells his name is about as worthless as a titt on a boare hog, i couldnt believe it when he ran for judge, iknew he had about as much a chance of winning as a chinaman, the good thing i was happy was im sure it cost him alot of his own money for the campaign that he lost, now also chunky is a bailiff at the magistrate court, probably trying to get that extra year he needed for his state retirement

what about the time chunky had his bro yank out a city water meter from a deputy that didnt vote for him , the deputy was and still living there at the city , county border line and was left with out water for a long time, then also when he won sheriff he moved mendozas desk and personal items from his office out to the hallway,i could go on and on about the slick moves he made to the deputies that didnt support him, but ill let it go at that.

Ward did not 'run off the road'. During a horrible rain storm she was walking in the traffic lane because the water on the side of the road was more than ankle deep. He simply did not see her. Hit and run was the real crime. As for Light's change of venue, Volpato's change of venue allowed a murderer to go free.

It took ten years to win a new trial for Volpato. If the prosecution's case was iron-clad, it woul have held up after all that time. Apparently it wasn't, or they wouldn't have felt the need to supress testimony.
