Businesses have high hopes for soccer complex

A new soccer complex on Albuquerque's West Side is expected to be a boost for more than just soccer teams when it opens.

While I can understand that this is a great boost for the west side, from the east side of town the commute is cut 4 miles by moving it out there instead of Bernalillo. Mr. Cadigan and the Mayor seem to be focusing all of their interests on the west side, and while not a bad thing in the least, where are the considerations for the residents of the east side of town? Albuquerque is experiencing a good old fashion dose of Manifest Destiny.

Screw the East Side. They've gotten everything in the past. Finally the City is focusing on the West Side which desperately needs some attention.

The only part I don't understand from the story is how the women's gym is going to benefit? I can see the restaurant getting business from the traffic going by...but the gym? "Hey kids, you really played a great game today! Look! There's a gym...I'm gonna stop and sign up."

How is that meandering road going to handle the extra traffic? Someone needs to look at the portion of Unser Blvd that goes from Paseo del Norte and Universe heading South.

Well Winters put it right, education really is about how much businesses can benifit. We are in the business now of text books companies, testing companies, construction, and now sports complexes. When can we go back to educating the kids? Education does not need more money thrown at it, just decide what we are really in the business of doing, and do that. Only that. No more money for APS!
