If you don't know how to handle a pit bull properly and responsibily, DO NOT OWN ONE! Why is common sense so UNCOMMON??

I despise Pit Bulls because every one I've seen is overly aggressive. Pit Bulls will attack other dogs and people for no apparent reason. I'm all for eliminating the breed with no predjuice, kill them all. As for the owners that let these beast run free, well, there is always civil court to recoup money lost when the killed the Alpacas, there could be a substantial settlement if the price was quoted correctly in the article.

Misdemeaner charges? Those dogs coulda killed a human. Should'nt a $100,000 in damaged "property" be a felony?

Not all pit bulls attack. I have seen some that were very loving members of the family and got along well with other animals. It has a lot to do with their environment.

People attack pit bulls more often than pit bulls attack people. The problem lies with the owner.

It has a lot to do with their environment. You are completely right PINKFLOYD!!! I loved my pit bulls I had a red nose and a blue they were the most loving, loyal, caring, gentle and smartest Pets I have ever had. They were a part of our family and ignorant people should really do research on the breed before putting the whole breed down. It does take a responsible and loving owner to have a pit bull. The bad owners are the ones that give the breed a bad name!

You are so wrong for condeming the entire breed for the few Pit bulls you have seen. They obviously didn't have good owners. You should really do some research on Pit bulls and learn the facts of the breed. The reasons for people not liking the breed is because of the owners they have. They do what their owner wants and tells them to do they are also bred for their loyalty to their owners.

This is really bad all the way around I do have empathy as I have lost animals I loved dearly before myself. Depending on training and breed some dogs may not be suitable around small children or even adults. :-(

You people don't even know the owners of these dogs nor did you know the dogs themselves. This is IGNORANCE. There was no proof that these two dogs were the killers of the alpacas. There are countless other dogs in this area not to mention wild coyotes. The accuser Mr. Homer stated that he saw the dogs running around OUTSIDE of the pen that held the seven alpacas. In another interview he stated that he saw them inside the pen. This man needs to get his lies straight. In yet another interview he was quoted saying that it was dark out and he couldn't see the alpacas so how was he able to make out such a perfect discription of the two dogs? Let it be noted that he discribed the two dogs as one being black the other brown. Of the two pit bulls that were killed this afternoon one was black the other GREY.

The dogs should have been out on the prowl to begin with. Owner at fault for allowing them to be loose.

"The dogs should have been out on the prowl to begin with. Owner at fault for allowing them to be loose. " Don't you mean shouldn't? Let me ask you, have your dogs ever gotten out of your yard? Or maybe a friends dog? Where is your humanity? These dogs lived in their home for over three years and never attacked anything or anyone. Their neighbor had horses, including a baby horse at one point and the dogs never even barked at them. Why would they suddenly turn vicious and attack seven alpacas?
