- Better Hearing and Speech month
- Colonias Day at the Legislature

All these and more are available digging around on:

SJR2, T Keller
seeks to limit public school class sizes but sets forth no funding stream for the districts to acquire the additional room or teachers to support that effort. Another unfunded mandate, albeit a good idea conceptually. I can already hear the APS's wailing and gnashing of teeth.

HJM 18 "BEHAVIORAL HEALTH DAY AT THE LEGISLATURE"

If they could act rationally for even one day, that would be an improvement.

wrestling? Probably considered a job training for the WWE for youth who are too ambitious to settle for a job in a call center.

We all know what gender neutral language can lead to...gay marriage legislation.

Interestingly there is a bill out there to define marriage as a union between one man and one woman. IIRC it had to do with making the change in the St constitution.

I find the gender neutral language bill to be another waste of time of which they have little extra to spare.

She says she going to fix it...

A New Mexico lawmaker has provoked a very loud outcry all over Thursday morning's media by introducing a bill that would criminalize rape victims who seek abortions.

Republican Rep. Cathrynn Brown introduced House Bill 206, which states that a rape victim terminating her pregnancy would be charged with a third-degree felony. In NM, such felonies carry a jail term of up to three years, HuffPo reports.

The text of the bill reads as follows: "Tampering with evidence shall include procuring or facilitating an abortion, or compelling or coercing another to obtain an abortion, of a fetus that is the result of criminal sexual penetration or incest with the intent to destroy evidence of the crime."

She was quoted in the news as saying her bill was just sloppily written and she was just trying to stop rapists. I don't believe her.

Does she really expect us to believe that her goal was to prevent rapes by making abortion illegal?

The anti-abortion zealots are getting help from some very crafty national advocates, and they get state legislators to introduce bills to outlaw and restrict abortion in various ways. Her bill smacks of that. The national lobbyists, at least those who are aware that New Mexico is a state rather than a foreign country, probably figured that we were too lazy and ignorant to catch a despicable bill like this. FAIL!!!

I don't believe for a second that she was just trying to protect women and children from rapists. Watch for more religious-based legislation from this Rep.

Anyone as sloppy as that doesn't belong as a legislator. She got caught in her own lie and is digging herself in deeper. Someone said it well when they said all this is about is preserving evidence. Protecting women my foot!

HB 244 -$250,000 for MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE VENTURE SPACE INCUBATOR PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO
(is this how NM legislators are bred?)

HB 250 - MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR NEW MEXICO SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAMS
$4,613,683
$170,913
$112,040
I'm a senior too but this is a bit overboard IMO.

HB 255 - MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR EDUCATIONAL TELEVISION AT STATE UNIVERSITIES
$100,000 each to UNM, ENMU & NMSU

SB 268 - AMENDING AND ENACTING SECTIONS OF THE
NEW MEXICO FERTILIZER ACT
Will this protect us from what the legislature emits?

SB 272 - PROVIDING FOR VOTER REGISTRATION AT
EARLY VOTING SITES FOR PRIMARY AND GENERAL ELECTIONS
Here we go again...

SJM 15 - A TASK FORCE TO STUDY THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TOBACCO USE AND EMPLOYER COSTS
Are you kidding me, in NM?

SM 18 - STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND THE REPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN
Ortiz y Pino is at it again.

SM 19 - COMMEMORATING THE TWENTY-FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE KHOJALY TRAGEDY IN WHICH MORE THAN SIX HUNDRED PEOPLE WERE KILLED
And still more Ortiz y Pino. Does this clown even know where he lives(NM)?
