Because of outdated water lines, the Albuquerque-Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority says they assume a 95 percent chance of a new leak on any given day in the county.

Define ageing. The water lines in my neighborhood have sprung leaks on a fairly regular basis in the past two years. Two on my street in the past six months alone. Given this neighborhood didn't exist 20 years ago, I wouldn't exactly call these lines "old".

Which is pretty scary actually. Our water lines are probably in worse shape than we could hope to replace when you consider the costs. Should we all go back to wells?
