From the Albuquerque Journal, January 27, 2013, Pp.B1 & B6.

"New Mexico Sheriffs aren't too keen on President Obama's proposal to ban assault rifles and large capacity magazines.

"Nearly all of them- 29 out of the state's 33 county sheriffs- have signed onto a statement that their oaths of office don't require them to enforce federal laws they consider unconstitutional.

"The sheriffs, including Bernalillo County Sheriff Dan Houston, said their oaths of office require them to uphold the U.S. Constitution and New Mexico law, according to a written statement issued by the New Mexico Sheriff's Association."

like in the 60s with civil rights we may need to bring in the federal marshalls to remind these throwback goobers to do their duty and obey the law.

The douchebag pro bono has been busy. Negative avatars just for redacting a story in the Albuquerque Journal with no editorial comments. And these are the folks that tell you that they believe in the 2nd Amendment, when they don't even believe in the 1st- Freedom of Speech!

States rights versus federal rights....according to those that wrote the Constitution the federal government was to be limited to only what is put down in the Constitution....

That's why for years you had states that had a sort of official "state" religion....because it was only federal congress that was limited to making laws for or against religion....

Now the big thing is guns....

The federal government has been trying to steal states rights and grow bigger than the Constitution allows....

Hence the 2nd amendment and the "last" resort of a people to possible turn back the tide of a tyrannical federal government trying for a power grab against the invidual states....

Think the over reaching Obamacare that does not allow state by state competition is only encroachment?

Tell that to Obama, O-Biden and their trusty sidekick E Holder.

Interesting....would that be like Caesar wanting to become emperor?

Are we nearing that time in our country?

And you see how well that worked out for the states. All POUS has to do is federalize the National Guard and those County Mounties will be visitors in their own jails. Ask George Wallace about defying federal law.

Absolutely. POTUS and the feds can do that. And it will partially hinge on what "defying" means.

Sort of like defying any existing law, like Immigration law as an example.

Daily Horoscope for May 20

Cancer

Your mind is working well, so give it plenty of exercise. You could get involved in an intellectual discussion that forces you to think things through for yourself, or you might have to do some serious thinking about a forthcoming travel plan. If you're often wary of saying what you think you'll feel much braver about speaking up today, which is good news if you want to fight your corner or express your point of view.
