Hi I'm new to the forum. I live in Ripon Wisconsin. I'm trying to get information on how to build the Ripon skate park up a little more then what it is right now.
For starters it consists of a vacant lot right by the Selfridge park. The land I believe was donated and the 3 ramps a half pipe, a middle "hubba" and another ramp by the parents of one of my fellow class-mates when one of their sons passed away in a car accident trying to skateboard in the street. In this past summer me and two of my friends have brought stuff into the park made out of wood we have bought and made ourselves. Some of these things are not made very well or ment to last a long period of time. We are still making more stuff for this summer to share with people that come and enjoy the park.
What I'm asking for is how Oshkosh got their park started. On most occasions we drive 30 mins to go skateboard in Oshkosh just for the fact its way better there. I've been going there since 2007 and I've even experienced their opening of the new 2008 park which is amazing. They used great cement nice ramps great overall layout. Good for beginners and more advanced skaters. Anyways back to point, wanted to know how and where would I start to get funding for a better re-built skate park in Ripon. We have about 10+ kids that go their regularly and some of them don't have the advantage of being able to pick up their car keys and drive to Oshkosh every night to enjoy a good day of skating.
If you got any ideas this would make a great addition to our community and help with keeping some of these kids off the streets with an after-school activity.
Thanks and any comments are appreciated!
