Great job, boys. Now hope the two vermin are sent to prison for twenty years. Let good old Judge Sullivan mete out the punishment and you will be retired before they see daylight.

Great police work. Keep up the pressure on these thugs. As this bad economy unwinds and starts to recover I, for one, will do what I can to advocate better pay for all of the VPD.
Public works dep't. also does a great job and should similarly be rewarded.

I agree, they didn't catch the people from Vernon that were involved just the people that traveled to Vernon to get the drugs.

I have heard stories about kids doing this. They get people to buy drugs and then they steal the drugs and don't pay for it.

Thanks for your informed and qualified opinion on this matter. Several people have wasted their time and brain cells reading your mindless drivel. One time I heard about this guy what took pop rocks and soda….blah blah blah blah … and then…..how about you watch for future arrests in this case. Crimes get solved after the fact all of the time, not everyone gets caught in the first swoop.

These types of transactions should be regulated. Decriminalize pot and local, state, and federal government would benefit drastically because they would be able to tax it. The money that the government would make could be used for hiring more cops and better equipping them to eliminate the use and trafficking of hard drugs like heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamines. These are the drugs that are tearing families and neighborhoods apart. How can anyone feel right about putting someone in jail for years over a plant?

its funny how you attack ME instead of the ARGUMENT i made

all i stated was that all of you losers congratulating the cops need to re-evaluate the situation

all the officers did was respond to a gunshot that went off, saw the kid running away, and arrested him. OMG a scared white kid running away in some housing complex, not hard to find buddy.

you guys are acting like the police did something great.

another point....unless this kid(kevin) told them "I came here to buy drugs".....how do the officers know it was a "drug deal gone bad"....if kevin did tell the officers that, then he deserves to go to jail f*ckin idiot!

we, the public are left with no details about this case. we are to assume that they are right in their assumption that it was a drug deal gone bad. how do we know for sure? the article doesn't make any statements regarding HOW THE OFFICERS CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THEY DID.

hey DAMAN....hows it feel to live in central CT's ghetto.....i would take a basement in Berlin over a crack pipe apartment in Murderin anyday;)...see i can attack where you live too buddy.

Lets break down your post piece by piece.
"Ha-ha so I was right about you living and smoking pot in your parent’s basement…cool dude I’ll bring the munchies. But seriously I don’t live in Meriden, not even close. According to your posts you were in Berlin, CT and then went to York, ME."
- There you go again. Starting your post off with an attack. Love it.
-Yes, I went from Berlin to York County. Yes I went from my HOUSE in Berlin to go check up on some property that I OWN.
-Topix has been dead on with my locations. You don't have to be ashamed of living in Meriden, I was just kidding.
----
"Anyways on to your flawed argument. The article says and I quote,” Kevin Zabrensky, traveled to Vernon to meet with several people to buy drugs, police said. Those people then tried to rob Zabrensky and he responded by pulling a gun and firing at the group, police said. Zabrensky was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, use of a firearm in a felony, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree threatening, attempted possession of narcotics, carrying a gun without a permit, second-degree breach of peace and threatening.”
-Did you even read my post because your rambling there does nothing to counter my point. All I stated was that the newspaper, nor the police tell us HOW THEY KNEW KEVIN WENT TO BUY DRUGS.
---I also said that because the newspaper nor the police state how they knew that Kevin drove there to get drugs...the other logical conclusion was that Kevin told them "I went to buy drugs"...but if he did that, then he is an idiot and deserves to go to jail. But lets move on...
-You basically just re-iterated what the newspaper said, and tried to sound intelligent.
"While all of the residence and even Zabrensky were running away the cops were going towards the sounds of gunshots. Do you think it was justified for Zabrensky to shoot someone, because he got robbed? Is that what your argument is, that the shooting was justified because Zabrensky did not get his drugs? What if he killed someone, especially someone innocent inside the apartment complex? This of course while you were sitting in your parent’s basement sparking up a bowl, contemplating your 17-20 years of life. Next time you hear gunshots in Berlin or wherever you live run towards them, yea I did not think so."
-Why are you congratulating the cops for doing their job? They get paid well to do it, and receive unbelievable benefits. Of course people would run away from shots, although it does not state in the article "residents had to flee."...Of course Kevin and his friend would run if they were getting robbed.
-Do I think it was justified for Kevin to shoot someone if he was getting robbed? Well if I were getting robbed, and I felt my life was in danger, I would consider shooting flare shots or even at the person that was trying to hurt me.
-He didn't kill anyone. Nor was anyone injured.
-Again, attacking and making assumptions. I am 24...I can afford rent in CT and a mortgage in ME. How YOU doin? haha

"Also if you are relying on this paper for your news you are in trouble. Go sit in open court while these cases are settled. That is where you will hear the real story. It sounds like you may have this opportunity to do just that if you get caught buying your pot. Here is a clue, don’t go to Vernon to buy your weed, dude."
-You were the first person to comment on this story, and it was on CHRISTMAS DAY. You clearly rely on this newspaper, not only that, you care that deeply to be the first one to comment on it.
-So your telling me that in order for me to find out how the officers knew he was going to Vernon to buy drugs, I have to go sit in court for 2-3 hours? Is that what you do to get information on an arrest? If the officers charged him with ATTEMPT TO BUY DRUGS....they should have to at least inform the public as to what evidence or proof they had that he went to buy drugs.
-What is your problem against marijuana? The article says NOTHING about marijuana. What if he was going there to buy coke? what about heroin? what about e pills? Why do you make ASSUMPTIONS and then ATTACK on those false assumptions?
-If I can't go to Vernon to buy weed, do you have a suggestion as to where I should go? I didn't know Newington had a bodega? Howbout Murderin? Or do you guys only breed crack heads?
"Good luck Legalize, maybe someday you will come out of your parent’s basement and put down the bong. Peace dude."

-I don't NEED luck, I make my own.

-My parent's basement is probably bigger than your house (if you have one).

Does anyone known anything about this case? The amount of information in the actual article is minimal, and leaves a lot to the imagination.

Insead of arguing back and forth why don't you just come to the court case on the 13th of January, then you will know all the details and can argue you opinions with the facts. You are just wasting your time with your mindless babble about things that you don't know the facts to.

They went to jail for shooting a gun. Big difference between your weed smoking and trying to kill someone, DUDE.

you guyz are idiots beside the fact that you have no idea about the true details of the case only the blown out of proportion news media version.( just so you know the vernon pd found no drugs from any parties involved in this incident, no drugs at all) kevin was acting in self defense he was jumped 4 on one walking tnto an apartment building and fired a warning shot to defend himself. yes it is illeagle (in this state)to posess an unregistered handgun but if this didnt happen in liberal ass connecticut, if it happend in arizona were you can get a gun at 18 then the kids who set up, jummped, and robbed kevin would be going to jail.
