Take it to court. That's the new policy in this town without a single parking meter but its fair share of drivers who break rules such as blocking fire hydrants, taking space reserved for handicapped motorists ... Read more

Certainly sounds like a fair process. I'm sure people who get state infraction tickets will take it a lot more seriously than a town ticket. I'm just curious to know how the town went about collecting unpaid tickets.

Just a way to get people to be more responsible for their actions. Why should people be allowed to park wherever they want without obeying the laws? I don't think you would be too happy if you were handicapped and couldn't park in a handicap space because someone without a handicap permit decided to park there just to "run in for a minute". How about fire hydrants? If the fire dept. couldn't get to a hydrant because a car blocked it and your house was on fire, you wouldn't be too happy.

Just wondering, if one pleads Not Guilty is the issuing officer required to attend the hearing? Would this be overtime on his/her time off or overtime to someone to fill in on their shift?

Parking tickets are not actually handled within the "Court System" Usually a moderator reviews the appeal and the officers report that goes along with the ticket and then will make a decision.

Just for fun they should blow up cars with unpaid tickets. Now that would be exciting and would teach people a lesson.

Dosen't the money go into the state general fund instead of into Berlin general fund? If not Berlin will only get a small percentage of the infraction. Good job guys. how about updating the policy and doing your job. maybe too much work.

If they can't get the sex ordinance passed, maybe they need to start ticketing cars parked in front of the tittie bars.

I see this as the number one crime in Berlin. Keep up the good work.
