Fireworks are legal in many states. When will the people of Connecticut put a stop to these ridiculous laws?

Fireworks are legal in about 38 States.
This type of enforcement by the State Police is nothing more than another form of revenue collection.
The State Police should concentrate on catching real live criminals,like they used to do many years ago.

Hey if people break out a gram scale to weigh the powder content on their fireworks thay may get arrested for possesion of drug paraphanalia.

So here we are Cellabrating the Independance of USA, and my kid cannot even hold a sparkler.. Glad I can be so restrained on "Independace Day" Government needs to stay out of our lives and let us live free.. Don't bother with New Hampshire. Pennsylvania is as far away as New Hampshire. I went there last week and let me tell you The best. way better than up north. 84 west to the first exit in PA. Exit #53

Fireworks have been around for thousands of years, but the State of CT will put an end to that! A hefty campaign contribution to any senator who sponsors legislation to finally make 'em legal. Folks want their bottle rockets and roman candles on the 4th!!

Connecticut is such a joke with so many meaningless laws. And it seems to continue getting worse. I agree with an earlier post. A trip to New Hampshire is in order.

I'm all for safety but 16 years old to run around with a sparkler on the Independence Day? Being in a military and patriotic family, I take great offense to such nonsense when I see much larger problems plaguing the State with no end in sight.

What do you expect to hear from Cops? These things are safe and legal. 1st they like to tell you the danger, for justification. 2. Then they spread out and have a huge undercover investigation. The law in CT or illegal fireworks is a minimal 50 dollar ticket. How come everywhere I ever lived in this state it looks like war zone on the 4th of July weekend? Because no one not even the cops really care. It's like back in the 70's in Bushnell Park and everyone was smoking weed and the cops just stood around, no one really cared to bust that many people. Now as for handing sparklers to your children, be careful and don't be an idiot. Let them know that thing is red hot and will not feel good. It really can put an eye out. I know my parents let me run around with sparklers, and they were illegal . We also, as children, had bottle rocket wars and blew up firecrackers in our hands, didn't feel good but hey we are not the worse for wear after it's all said and done.

sounds unconstitutional to me. perhaps instead of picking on patriotic people this 4th of july the connecticut state police should focus it's resources upon bringing the states multibillion dollar illegal drug trade to a halt, thoroughly investigate connecticut's practices and patterns of public corruption in judicial and governmental services operations and clean up their own house especially senior level managers whom believe they can abuse their authority to silence internal and external reports of fraud waste and abuse in state police operations

Why don't they go after the people that sell them?

If the fireworks are for sale, it's logical that the consumers will think these are all legal. After all, they aren't buying them out of the back of some guy's car !

Any business considered legitimate should be penalized when selling illegal fireworks, and consumers should not bear the punishment.
