This article made no mention of the municipal governments in NJ or the greedy developers who had their eyes on the flower growers' properties. The developers bought the growers out for their land and the municipal governments helped by hitting the growers up with large tax assessments that would leave the growers almost broke. The municipal governments supported the developers because the land would generate a lot more tax revenue when the flower growers were replaced with housing developments.
