Many "conservatives" make the same mistake. Our constitution is about equal rights under the law. The freedom to do what one wants as long as he does not hurt another. No on eis allowed to vote on individual matters that do not affect them. It is in the constitution of our Republic. Get it!
Actually, the constitution is a limiting document. It was designed to limit what the government can do to the people. The founders were concerned with tyranny from the government, not the behavior of some fringe group.

In a way, the overturn of prop 8 may benefit the straight community as well. Polygamy is the next to fall.

You, of course, will not be able to say why my post was stupid or idiotic. Why? Because you are a stupid idiot.

I bet all you pickle sniffers think this is a victory. Well, you can call it what you want "Same Sex Marriage" or what ever you want. I am just going to call it a "Homosexual Registration." I also will treat it as such. Nothing really has changed any way. You had all these rights before any way with civil unions.

So did all the heterosexual marriages suddenly collapse as a result of this ruling? They didn't? See? Stop being so afraid! Besides, gay marriage will be good for the economy. To quote Tina Fey ,"Gay dudes will go All Out on their weddings!"

Not Exactly, Justice Kennedy had ruled in favor gay right on couple of cases what makes you think he won't
All it proves is that a radical homosexual cannot be an impartial judge.
If You Have probelem with the Judge blame But both President Bushes for giving him the job in first place.
It is ludicrous to claim that a right to marry is a right to redefine marriage.
Homosexual marriage is a failed policy. It has never attracted any significant percent of the homosexual population as actual participants in ANY country that allows it, and studies have shown that such marriages are not usual even exclusive relationships!
Straight Have Redefine Marriage since Day one, If you want Traditional Marriage, Why aren't you carrying a sign that says "1 Man 1 wife 1 concubine."

Because public administrators are mostly idiots these days. America has become an idiocracy.
The entire pro-gay marriage argument is based on an idiotic fallacy. The marriage question has been deceptively framed as a DENIAL of rights to same-sex couples, which the judge mindlessly accepted, whereas it is a GRANTING of rights to opposite-sex couples.
The grant of rights to certain classes does not imply that ALL classes are necessarily entitled to these same rights. When people raise the prospect of someone marrying his pet goldfish or grandmother, they are pointing out this very fallacy.
But the gay marriage advocates and the judges and politicians sympathetic to their cause just don't seem to get it.

Isn't "discrimination" part of the US constitution?

Ain't gonna happen! The judge can change what the majority voted because the result is illegal under the law. You are entitled to your opinion and/or religious persuasion, that is fine and you can maintain that belief only to the confines of you beliefs, however when it comes to law, that opinion will not stand. Prop 8 defeat is the greatest thing that happened to gay rights and equal protection. Moving forward, the religious and shallow thinkers will be DEFEATED in the US Supreme Court, the closet door is open, we are here and we are queer and you better get used to it, because equal protection will be mandated by law.
The fight is not over and the shallow minded and religious right will regret their challenge. The religious right forced the issue and a federal decision is comming and the gays will prevail. No matter what people VOTE or belive.

That is exactly how the pro Prop 8 Attorney's presented their case in court...and THEY lost, and will continue to loose, the fight has begun.

Can any of you tell me why the government should have any stance (positive or negative) on gay marriage? How exactly is it the purview of the government to tell two people that they can not enter in to a legal contract simply because they are both the same gender? If you don't like it, then don't marry someone of the same gender. Simple as that.

why don't people get that the court system is there to make sure the rights of the minority are in check? the majority has not always been right in history.

people can make all the justifications for their ignorance and hatred but don't expect people to fall for it. equality wins out in the end. don't forget.

Although I could care less who gets married, but in truth what this tells us is that the people's vote no longer count.,
So for you Gays that think this is so great, wait until the government turns on you and decides to overturn something you voted for.

It's no secret that Judge Walker is gay, it's also no secret that he has ruled against gay people in his history on the court. Your accusations of bias are hollow.
