HEMET: Committee has nonresidents

Hemet's new ROCS committee has a majority of out-of-towners, which makes sense due to the city's odd geography.

As long as they have the best interest of Hemet in mind I'm okay with this, but previous Chamber of Hemet committees have actually done a diservice to this town in several ways. diverting or allowing contractors to build without charging TUMF funds have left our road going out of and into town a mess. SURE, we got some great curb and gutters, but in any other town they would have demanded both! How about the whole Wal Mart mess? We let them come here and forgave their local taxes for how many hyears? Then we wonder why we had not enough income for fire/police enforcement. Continue with the issue of the influx of low income housing and you have a history of people looking to keep THEIR hometowns safe at the expense of Hemet. Pay attention Hemet the carpetbaggers have arrived!

I have more of problem when I hear that a certain council member may not even be a resident of Hemet (or the San Jacinto Valley for that matter).

Is this EVER going to be addressed?

Why were Hemet residents left out of the Committee if it is true they have non-Hemet residents on the Committee. Is it a payback by the City Council or City Manager. Residents who live in the City understand the problems and if the ROCS Program is a legitmate attempt to correct the property code violations, non-responsive landlords, why have Hemet residents been left off the
ROC Committee? Our City blight is caused by unresponsive landlords who prefer to rent to Section 8 and expect the residents of Hemet to pay for the extra fire/police protection caused by their greed.
If it is true that we have non-Hemet residents on the ROCS Committee, the City Manager should be held accountable. And why hasn't the City Manager checked into the rumor that one of the Hemet City Council Members is not a resident of Hemet? Addressing the rumor is smarter than allowing the rumor grow to grow and taint the reputation of the Hemet City Council and the City Manager. Do the propety owners, including Mobilehome Park Owners, have the City Council and City Manager in their pocket?

He would have to consult with the consultant that would have to consult with the other consultant then he might get an answer but don't count on it. who is running this city consultant or city manager?

Why can't the our local newspaper reporter research the issue of a Hemet City Council Member living outside the City of Hemet and also report the campaign donation history for all of the current City Council Members? This should be a matter of public record and the City Newspaper certainly can get this information.
It is hard to get the newspaper to publish any article about the Hemet City Council that would disclose their financial backing and their physical address/residence. We use to reply on this explosure by the local newspaper to help make informed decisions before voting for City Council Members. What has happened to the reporting efforts in the past few years regarding information about the Hemet City Council? It is like the reporters have to get the OK before they print an article about the Hemet City Council or Hemet Committee Members - Where is the transparency the voters were promised in the last City Council Election?

Comment: ROCS Committee - has non Hemet residents

It matters when you have someone from another community such as Muriette coming in and trying to influence a proposed Hemet Rental Tax on rental property. Mobilehome Parks fall ino this category because they rent the land beneath mobilehomes. Seniors own their mobilehomes and pay property taxes. Our Community has been the dumping ground for the nearby cities because they do not want low-income people in their own communiy. We get their rejects and the additional burden on our police and fire safety departments. If they are not a Hemet resident, send them back to the cities that referred them to us. Let them hand out hotel vouchers, food from our pantry and clothing vouchers from our local
Thrift stores

Each Ciy should take care of their own - not dump on the City of Hemet.
