Heartbroken Client

Newport Beach, CA

My rating speaks for itself. As a bankruptcy attorney, he was not informing, helpful, compassionate or attentive. I had to pressure him for basic responses. His assistants did most of his responding. As his client, I felt brushed aside. I do not know about his level of competency about his other areas of practiced. He does not seem to be a specialist in the area of bankruptcy.
Hire at your own risk

I found Vernon Ellicott to be a horrible divorce attorney! He came across competent, experienced and caring during the initial (free) consultation. However, once you hire him he does a 180! Do not expect him to answer your questions or return your telephone calls or emails - he won't without you leaving him numerous messages first. His manner is rude and detached. He is very curt and vague in his reponses and leaves you questioning his knowledge and ability to represent you properly and effectively. I immediately fired him once I reviewed the declaration he filed with the court - it was inaccurate and FULL of typos! So unprofessional. My new attorney had to correct all of the errors Vernon Ellicott made! Lastly, his staff - equally as rude and unprofessional. Hire at your own risk!

Vernon Ellicott handled my bankruptcy case, and everything went just fine! When I called or emailed, either he or his staff answered questions promptly. I recently received my discharge notice and I couldn't be more pleased. Highly recommended!

Vernon Ellicott is the worst attorney and will take you for every penny you have. He has no ethics or integrity. He acts like knows what he is doing and he is lazy and never returns your calls. I reviewed the declaration he filed with the court - it was inaccurate and FULL of typos! So unprofessional. My new attorney had to correct all of the errors Vernon Ellicott made! Lastly, his staff - equally as rude and unprofessional. Hire at your own risk! When I tried to fire him he kept acting like he was working for me and kept billing me.

Vernon Ellicott waited to shortly before my case was scheduled for trial to demand I pay him an additional $5000 over and above what I already paid him and he had agreed upon to take my case to trial. When I refused to pay the additional money he was demanding and extorting from me by threatening to abandon my case, he went to court and had himself taken off my case. He told me afterward to "go to court and talk to the judge yourself!" Of course, he now has many "excuses" for his actions but these are all lies. Thanks to his abandoning my case, my case was continued by the court and the case still has not settled. This treatment by Vernon Ellicott has caused me financial loss and mental anguish. Not a good experience to say the least!

I hired Mr. Ellicott's office after my ex husband's attorney gave me notice that he was taking me to court the next day for an "emergency" hearing. They were prompt, answered all my questions, and prepared all the forms in a very short amount of time. His associate represented me in court and they won. I thought they did a wonderful job. I would and have reccommended them.

Maybe he's trying to do better? I hope so for the sake of his present and future clients.

I used Mr. Ellicott's office after my husband filed paperwork to try and terminate spousal support after just a few years on a long term marriage (20+ years.) I had no problems with them. They prepared my response and knew the facts of my case when we appeared in front of the Judge. I'm sure most divorce cases are highly emotional. I know mine was, but I was happy with the job Mr. Ellicott's office did.

I just saw this website. This website appears designed to elicit negative reviews. Two of the negative reviews are obviously duplicates.

I take client concerns very seriously and try very hard to do the best we can for every client. I wish I could say that every client was happy with our services, but that would be impossible for any business to say.

All of my clients are in crisis of some sort. While most clients are grateful and I receive many cards and letters of thanks, some clients in these times will be unhappy no matter how good a job their attorney does for them.

My office has handled thousands of family law and bankruptcy cases through the years. My goal has always been to help clients in times of personal legal crisis. We continue to serve clients with that goal in mind.

**********From my experience with Mr. Ellicott, I believe he is fibbing above in his self defence. He put me through HELL! But, maybe he has reformed and changed his immoral treatment of some clients like me. I hope so!*********

I think I know who wrote this. As I said, most of my clients, including this one are in crisis and are unhappy no matter what we do for them. I am sure there will be a follow up reply to which I will not reply. I do wish this client happiness and peace.

******Thanks Mr Ellicott for the good wishes you wrote above. But ask yourself Mr. E. and dear reader, is there remorse apparent in the words that you wrote above? Unfortunately, It seems not. I, of course, wish you likewise "happiness and peace"... but I also wish him remorse that will foster future good ethical conduct on the part of Mr. Ellicott. And, as for myself being "unhappy and in crisis" as you stated....not true...that's another fib! You just can't stop fibbing it seems!:o) How sad...really it is. I feel sorry for you...but I mostly pity his present and future clients. My message to Mr. E would be to.."Please stop fibbing and you'll be happier and "right with your maker" and you'll make the world a better..not worse...place! Please think it over and always live by the medical maxim of "Do No Harm" and the Buddhist Philosophy that greed is NOT good and "Do good..receive good...do bad...receive bad." Please think this over..this is no attempt at retribution but a wake up call for your soul!*******

My family and I were in financial ruin, my wife and I felt like we about to fall down the rabbit hole. Mr. Ellicott and his staff brought my family and I to a place were we could move forward with our lives. It was difficult but Mr. Ellicott and his staff were professional and kind to us.

Mr. Ellicott LIES over and over and has no compassion and no ethics that I could detect after knowing him for a LONG time. Therefore he is NOT beyong the possibility of placing "bogus entries" or "bogus reviews" put in by himself or placed by his friends or family or staff. I do KNOW that he is capable of demanding "more money" when you least expect it---that's a fact! He never admits that he is immoral either so his redemption is doubtful. Sorry to say the above but it's true. To protect yourself proceed with caution, get everything in writing with him, and be prepared to file a malpractice suit.
Blame The Victim Trick

Newbury Park, CA

#19 Feb 2, 2012
Mr. Ellicott wrote the following above: "I think I know who wrote this. As I said, most of my clients, including this one are in crisis and are unhappy no matter what we do for them."

The fact is that Mr. Ellicott wrote the above as you can read for yourself. But it is a "lawyers trick"....it is BLAME THE VICTIM. It is a lie. Mr. Ellicott often uses this "lawyers trick" of "blame the victim." He has no ethics so he sees nothing wrong with blaming his clients and lie-ing about them...instead of blaming himself. Beware, he might try this trick on you too!:o)

My email thread below with Vernon speaks for itself -- In a nutshell, an OK guy but a crappy attorney, at least in my case. Mediocrity at its finest!!

Vernon was right when he states that my case was difficult vis-a-vis my legal position from the outset, but now that I better understanding of the legal system, having been "Pro Per" for the last year, he could have done so much more ...

Enjoy!!
