After Jean Quan was elected mayor of Oakland nearly three years ago, we opined that it marked a new era for the East Bay's most populous city.

Amen to this on-the-money article. It is WAY past time for Jean Quan to resign due to her complete failure as this city's mayor. I hope she has a good time on yet another needless trip to China on the taxpayers dime. This should be her last. I also hope the media audits her spending as well.

The Times and the Herald just ran editorials stating their opinions that Quan should NOT seek reelection for the good of the city. There seems to be a common theme growing about Quan's incompetence as mayor. It is so very important that she be forced out of Oakland politics. It is a sad day when the mayor's approval ratings are worse than that boob Ron Dellums. Don't leave angry Jean, just leave for God's sake.

Having recently transferred to the west coast from New York, I was very excited about moving to Oakland. The SF Bay Area has an allure to east coasters, just like New York is alluring to many west coasters. Having said that, I was not prepared for the incompetency of our local Oakland city government, especially when compared to New York. One would think that since Oakland is just a fraction the size of NY, it would be simpler to govern. Oh how wrong I was. After watching Oakland's mayor at two functions I attended, I was simply amazed at how amateurish and deceitful her behavior is. I'm still amazed that she actually believes the public believes her obvious lies and cover up attempts. In managing a large city, one must make difficult decisions for the good of the people. Mayor Quan has not learned this lesson.

One reason is New York probably does not have our crazy ranked choice voting system that allows incompetents to be elected mayor. Good old Oakland likes to take all the last place votes, tally them together and make the loser the winner. Just plain crazy.

I hear Toon Town is looking for a new mayor. Seems Quan would be perfectly suited for this position. No real decisions to make, lots of photo opportunities, you get to play with children all day long, no Occupy protestors, other cartoonish characters she can play with, AND NO ALCOHOL FOR HER HUSBAND. It's a win-win situation. Toon Town gets a mayor and Oakland can get a real mayor.

Quan wrote a rebuttal outlining all the positive changes in Oakland that she is responsible for. Decreasing crime and increasing education standards were not included. It is simply amazing how Quan thinks the public will continue to believe her lies. The way she sounds, Oakland does not have a single department head that did anything positive since she takes full credit. This is the sign of a weak leader.
