YESSSS! Peets is such a good cup of coffee, and going to their awkward location at the former Taco Bell in San Rafael is a bit of a chore. I will be there with a smile!!

The new BJ's Brewery is really impressive (much nicer than the older ones in Southern California). It's exactly what that mall needs. We were just there tonight and it was ridiculously crowded.

Chipotle (and Peet's soon enough) are in a great location as well (in the row behind BJ's). It's nice being able to hit these places without having to go into the actual mall. Nicely done..

"We're just excited that another local company has chosen to come to Northgate"

Why are the people at Northgate always so darn excited? They are always excited about this or that. Is it a mental disease or are they taking lots of stimulants?

I'm glad to hear Peet's is coming to Northgate! I love their coffee. Their the best! I'm relieved also knowing parking won't be a problem, unlike their San Rafael and Ignacio locations. Too bad we have to wait until spring until they open. Oh, well.

I agree it's terrific Peet's is going to be there but I really like the people at Gloria Jean's and they stuck it out at the mall during all of that construction - I hope they get a lot of business and do well too. I guess enough of us are addicted to our coffee that two coffee shops can thrive there.

In the movie "Blood in, Blood out" (highly recomended), the prison librarian, played by Richard Masur, says something to the effect that cocaine is the new coffee of the masses. He's wrong. Coffee is the new coffee of the masses.

Or maybe coffee is the new cocaine of the masses. Is that better? Hey, it's 3:08 am. My brain is just warming up. I think I need a cup of joe...

Hey, Buddy Boy - I know its off Tpic here, and I'll be in Los Angeles for the next few days -- Gonna babysit my grand daughter -- but, as I recall you mentioned you were regular Army.
To you, I wish you a Happy Veterans Day. I don't drink anymore, but I'll hoist a Diet Coke to you and those who never returned at noon on Wednesday.

Another nail in the coffin for the defunct Marinwood Plaza. At one point probably 5-6 years ago, Peet's had an interest in the Plaza redevelopment process but then they got wooed by the folks that redeveloped the old Nave Lanes site in Ignacio. The political wheels turned at glacial speed on the Marinwood site issues and nothing got done. The County tried to force way more housing components on that tiny site instead of focusing on what Marinwood and Lucas Valley really needed which was a market, a place for the community to gather for coffee and food, video store, cleaners, etc. Essentially a place where people could walk to but no...now you have all those residents driving north or south on 101 to get to essential retail services. So sad. Meanwhile the Hoytt's won't lift a finger to clean up the cesspool of old mattresses, needles, broken glass, overgrown 10 ft tall weeds and other c*r*a*p that is left on their property. And the County doesn't seem to care anymore and won't put pressure on them to clean up the site.

Off-topic schmopic. If someone doesn't want to read it, they won't read it. But they IJ might decide to start deleting anything off-topic. For now we're OK. I think. And of course they have computers in L.A., so you're really not going anywhere. But have fun while you're there!!!

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Scorpio

Take it slowly today otherwise you'll be almost guaranteed to lose your temper and make yourself very unpopular in the process. If someone is annoying you, you won't need any encouragement to start a row because you're looking for outlets for your current ire and irritation. OK, but do your best to direct your anger at the person who deserves it and not at innocent bystanders.
