Backlash: Women Bullying Women at Work

YELLING, scheming and sabotaging: all are tell-tale signs that a bully is at work, laying traps for employees at every pass. During this downturn, as stress levels rise, workplace researchers say, bullies are likely to sharpen their elbows and ratchet up their attacks. It’s probably no surprise that most of these bullies are men, as a survey by the Workplace Bullying Institute, an advocacy group, makes clear. But a good 40 percent of bullies are women. And at least the male bullies take an egalitarian approach, mowing down men and women pretty much in equal measure. The women appear to prefer their own kind, choosing other women as targets more than 70 percent of the time.

This seems to be happening a lot more now days. It's a shame there is nothing you can do about it either. It is very hard to prove and when you call the government to complain they just tell you that you will get fired for filing a complaint against your employer. Where are peoples rights when it comes to this kind of harassment? It seems to be that it is okay for the employer to cuss you, put you down,threaten you that you are lucky to have a job,change the rules to suit their mood,tell you it's the employees fault that the business is suffering, when in all reality its the employers bad management skills. I thought slavery was abolished a long time ago.

Try working in some of these small town jobs where everybody has known each other for years ,if you go in and try to change things to improve the way things are done then you are silently blackballed talked about and discriminated but in a silent underhanded way,one think I have learned is that when people get big raises and special treatment because they have been on the job forever to me just means they have found the easiest way to short cut things and do the least as possible but seem to get rewarded the most,try to make a change to improve things and you get and answer like Thats the way we have always done it but no one knows why or is willing to change the feel scared and threatened and gang up silently on the newcomer with different and mabey better ideas ,they are just milking it along until retirement

I like the way s/he spells mabey. For months, I have been able to ID several messages from the same person using different user names because s/he always uses the same spelling along with 'budjet'. No two people would consistently spell both words incorrectly--or would they?

when you come to a new job you keep your ideas to yourself until you get the lay of the land, apparently you have not figured this out.instead you come in and right away you try to change things. you can take your working as a team and stick it. you are only perceived as trying to make a name for yourself.you are coming in to a new situation and telling people who have been there for a lot longer than you that they are stupid and that i know better.this is one of the reasons why i'm shutting down my assembly plant in Ca. every one of you dimwits i hire thinks everyone else is stupid and only you can save the day, BS

Boy this sounds like Rummage, Come in not knowing anything and telling people how to do their job and doesn't even know what their job is. Sounds like a person you would like to buy them for what they are worth and sell them for what they think they are worth, most would be able to retire.

Thats why you have to shut down your plant you didnt accept new ideas and just wanted to continue the old ways no one claims you or your employees are stupid we should all be open to learn new ways,Their is no such thing as a stupid question leave egos out of this formula ,you should always have your ears and eyes open to newer and more efficent ways not all new ways are good and not all old ways are bad just here them out and remember that most long term employees are afraid of change and when they see it they will do backhanded things and start malicious rumors about the person that came up with it to stop them,some time its good to have new and fresh ideas and if you think its because they are so worried about you company you are wrong they more than likely are looking for smooth sailing to retirement,so shut down your company and show the world what a go open minded bussiness person you are ,others should follow your example and close instead up improve

He may have a good idea somewhere but it hasnt shown yet ,luckily we have more than one council ,right now Rummage needs to get over his massive Ego and stop trying to get even with the Council for moving him out of Town Hall he could care less about the Town now its all about his ego and that make for a very sad out come for a elected public servant to act this way at the citizens expence

Try working for a business run by family members.It really is hard to work when you are told 4 different ways to do something and none of them is the way the book says. There is no consistency, they allow a family member to work on equipment they have no clue about and when that can't be fixed because they made it worse they blame the other employees. They are short handed and want you to cancel your plans (Dr appt. or classes)but they walk out on their own business when it needs help.They show you other peoples write ups then laugh that the employee screwed themselves when it comes to unemployment because they wrote something derogatory on it.You can't use the equipment because they can't afford to pay the bills but when it takes to long to get the product done you get yelled at.It's cold in the building because they turn the heat off at night to save money and your not allowed to wear a coat to keep warm,because the customers will think its cold. Well hello it is cold. They use baby monitors to listen to employees and customers conversations. Oh and please don't stand up for yourself you just might get a week off from work.
