Anyone out there remember Munchies Hamburgers at 37th & MacDonald. It was in the old Big Boy before it became other places and later torn down. I know a 7/Eleven was later on that spot.

Anyway... Just being nostalgic....

So just a few days ago, I'm out and about in the outskirts of Sacramento (Natomas). I hear this guy mention Richmond....

Talk with him & how he grew up in Richmond. He worked at Bab's on 23rd and spent time at Nichol Park and MOO's... Then Bam! He mentions Munchies'....

A small world....

I remember there was a Munchies located at 105 Couch St. and Sonoma Blvd. in Vallejo. Yep, it was 10cent hamburgers, a little bigger then a dollar coin today. We'd buy 10-12 of them and scarf'm down... LOL

I remember Munchies in San Francisco when I was a girl. I think it was on Kearny. My brother and I would catch the bus from Bernal Heights where we lived to grub on those 8 cent burgers. They were so good.

Went to school in Vallejo in the early 70's. I remember the Munchies Burgers there. You could get a bag of burgers for a buck in those days.

I remember Munchies. Eat a half dozen with a beer and be good to go.. There was a great burger joint in Sac called Bib's Grub steak. Saturday morning was a kick to sit down with some old school guys with Indian and Harley bikes. Great stories. Great valley runs.

Okay this is weird, I worked at Munchies for about 4 years. Started out at the White Castle building on 13th street in San Pablo, went to 37th street. There was a Vallejo store as well as Oakland and one on Story Road in San Jose I worked at as well and one on Geary street in SF during the summer of love. Yep the burgers were 10 cents on sale and 12 cents regular price. We used to have schools buy 100's at a time in lieu of the old Hot Dog days at elementary schools, it was cheaper. The French fries came out of Vallejo, Bud's Spud's that turned into Bud's Burgers in Vallejo and all the meat came from Kimmel's Meat's in Hayward that was still there about 5 years ago.

We cut fresh tomatoes, onion and lettuce every day, it was a pretty good burger. Then we added the "Big Mouth" 1/4lb'er, it was also tasty. Don't recall that price. They were pretty good burgers. Buns were from Athens bakery, all good stuff.

Mo's was a favorite for us Richmondites. I went to High School from 1968 at North Campus, to South Campus where I spent nearly the full school year in Nichol Park and then graduated from the new "Prison" in 1971. What a Blast from the Past! I married by Downer Junior High School sweetheart and am still married to her after 43 years.

Some of the best fireworks ever were at Pt. Richmond where the fog lite up because the fireworks exploded above the fog. Then there was Alvarado Park with the skating rink. Lot's of good memories in Richmond.

We went to Casper's near Bertolli's ( I think) around 46 & Telegraph. The guy would chase the "bothers" and we could grab 5 or six dogs with onions & tom& relish& goo for about $1.25 for all. He all time played a tape of his country songs from someplace 1,000 miles away that is sure gone now. weird. Miss everything. The candy store always had a weiner mobile parked in front.

MY SIS USED to take dancing classes at place over from candy market with doggie fake truck in front. I would take her change and some other's change from the dressing room and buy chocolate turtles..there really was a neat sweet called chocolate turtles. Now in 20th year of civil practice and still remember the turtles. The hot dog guy was seriously creepy. Dog's okay. Cheep.
