Good for the North end of the county. I live close to Owensville and I'm fed up with that town and the attitudes to try and take everything!Good for Hermann!

more money, more money, more money!!!! We're all rich, let's just throw our money away, and not be at all conservative!!! What exactly has Owensville tried to take? The county seat belongs to the county, NOT Hermann!!!!!!!

I weighed everything out before I made my decision to vote to relocate the county seat. The courthouse being relocated or rebuilt/renovated was going to cost the county money either way. So why not pick a location that is set up for a courthouse and has room for growth and will cost the tax payers less to do. Also it made since that the court house was built in Hermann, it was a thriving town due to the river and the railroad. Those means of transportation or no longer used like they were, so that no longer applies. So basically save the tax payers money, get a new courthouse, build in a larger town with more space for growth.

Seems to me that if the Chamber of Com. in Owensville was as worried about jobs and getting businesses here as they were about moving the county seat we would be sitting good with many new jobs and lots of places to eat.

I'm so happy to hear that the area voters voted correctly! Why on God's green earth would anyone want to move a county seat from a beautiful historic courthouse to a town like Owensville?! I live in podunk Warrenton Missouri and we had that same battle go on years ago regarding our historic courthouse. That battle ended up dividing the people of this town and sadly some commissioner that isn't even around here anymore got his way and our old courthouse on Main Street was tore down. We not have a multi-million dollar Clayton Missouri look-a-like parked right in the middle of 19th century buildings. And if that isn't enough Warrenton is now complaining that the new building isn't big enough and doesn't provide enough parking for citizens using the new courthouse!
If anyone is unhappy living in Hermann, come and live in Warrenton awhile - you'll run screaming back to Hermann and you'll be thankful you live there! Believe me!
Thanks voters for saving the Gasconade County Seat!
