I take offense to the last line of the article.
My cat is not a luxury.
He is 16 years old. He is my buddy, my pale, and I've had him since he was a kitten.
I will go the extra mile for him. I may not be able to afford premium quality food for him or even vet care (I don't have health insurance myself), but I will provide for him the best I can. I can cut my expenses elsewhere.
If it gets to a point where I can't feed my cat, it's really bad!

I agree with you WDC. My dog is my family. I will NEVER let her go without. I love that dog, just as much as some people love their children.
