I like the walk track. In the winter when it's cold it's a good place to work out. Only alot of thugh headed GPDs workout there wich is why I quit my membership.

I also have been going to Coops Health and Fitness and I am totally unsatisfied with the way they have handled my account. The only disheartening thing is that I cannot canel my membership with them. I got tanninng as part of my package. I tan only 3 months out of the year. Now that I do not need to tan I still have to pay for it and cannot get my monthly payments lowered! Ridiculous! This is the worst customer service I have seen in a long time!

I agree with TrulyBeware. They don't handle your account like a good company should. They obviously could care less about their customer's financial situations. The fact that all the contract stuff is handled with another company is kind of sketchy. I had no idea that if you had any concerns with your contract, it had to be handled on the phone with this ABC company and the employees at Coop's apparantly have no control over it. You have to go through hell to cancel your contract. I never did because it required hours on hold and lies that I didn't feel comfortable telling. I basically just threw $500 in the trash. It sucks. So think twice before signing the contract.

I too dislike Coops. For one, the music they play would be appropriate if I were going to some club...really bad techno music. On top of that, they have two different sources of music blaring at the same time...the entire, mixed with something else blasting in the open aeorbic room. I feel like I'm living in the head of a schizophrenic with all the different noises going on. Then recently they have decided to honor the memberships of a gym that has closed down nearby, thus creating way over crowding. I've have complained to different staff members about the situation, including the manager, and have been assured that that day is just a single episode. Guess the fact that the gym is so overcrowded, that they don't realize I am there almost everyday...and it's always the same. I leave more stressed out than when I came in. I have worked out for many years, so I know what a real gym atmosphere and experience should be like...and you definitely don't get it at Coop's!!!!

I had the same problem with canceling my membership. I went through hell with the abc company too and they took 25 dollars out of my account saying it had been cancelled. The next month they to 52 dollars out of my account for the membership. I called back the abc company and they said you have to write a letter saying why your canceling. In my opinion it's none of their business why I'm canceling it's just another way for them to steal money from you!

When I joined Coops I got three free PT sessions. I enjoyed them, so I bought 6 more. My contract gave me six weeks to complete the training. The first one was fine, but my trainer started canceling sessions. This happened several times. On the day I was supposed to be finished (per the contract},trainer was a no-show. Long story short. I asked for a refund of the cost of the session I didn't receive, and was told by the owner (through BBB) that I hadn't completed the sessions by the date stated on the contract (so basically it was my fault), and he didn't give refunds. How is this good business practice? I was there, ready for my last session......it was HIS EMPLOYEE who didn't show up.!!! The lesson I learned was "a signed contract means nothing", and not every business owner is honest.

It's too bad that Coops has gotten these negative reviews. It's not perfect, but is a very good gym with pleasant staff and great instructors. I myself have been very happy attending the classes they offer in cycling, zumba, power and centergy/yoga. I suppose that these disgruntled folks are just venting their frustrations while the rest of us are too busy working out to stop and post a review. BTW- I've belonged for the past 3 years and am just now checking out these posts- I thought it was a shame to have such a skewed view of the gym so I thought I'd post this!

Unfortunately we do not have a high end health club like LA fitness in Dallas etc... but Coop is as good as you are going to get in Greenville. I have been very please with them and they gave me a reasonable rate.

Everyone is allowed to post their opinions but knowing how things work on the inside I personally know they don't care about anything but the numbers!!

Agree with the comments. And God forbid you try and deal with management regarding a dispute. Most confrontational manager I've ever come across in a place of business.

I was pleased with Coops until it came time for me to cancel my membership. It is always a headache cancelling w/ a company. You have to mail your cancellation notice through certified mail, meaning you got to pay to send it to ABC Financial, before your membership will be cancelled. They will do whatever they can to get your money, but what company wouldn't? That is if you did not sign a 1-year contract, so I don't think there is no free way out of that one. If you are going to sign a contract, make sure you are getting your moneys worth from the company.

It is sad they are not anyone to help you resolve problems between coop's and ABC Financial. That has a big impact on rejoining or going month to month. Neither is good if Abc financial is involved. We have had it both ways and you still can't get ABC FINANCIAL to stop deducting money from your account, even after you send a certified letter. Why does good paying customers have to go through this. Anderson can't keep any employees. It changes daily. Anyone have any additional comments. I rate the whole thing 0 because the stress exercise helps, these 2 companies create more.

You obviously have not had these problems. I was given so many free plans due to staff mistakes. We were members under contract. Over a year month to month. Wanted to take a break. I enjoyed it, but will not go back, due to the fact they are no one with Coops to help resolve these issues!

I have tried to find the owners they keep it well hid. You can't sole any issues with their management. All I hear is its out of our hands, you need to deal with ABC Financial, that's a joke. LOL. Guess, I need to go deed searching.

Rude customer service and dodgy as anything, stay away! Manager is so rude and is a sad excuse. Plenty of other better gyms out there with amazing service.

I have been a member for over a year now. I, too, have had A LOT of headache come from being there. Between the trainer canceling, ABC not contacting me about financial stuff, and the gym double charging me for training sessions (hundreds of dollars)- I will NEVER recommend Coops to anyone. I respect your opinion. You must be one of the few that have actually been treated fairly by this company. I pray it keeps going for you.
