I was a member at cOTR in Longview Texas, and yes ALL COTR CHURCHES IN AMERICA WERE AT ONE TIME CONNECTED ...Larry Lea started COTR in DALLAS TEXAS in the mid 80s after going to a Kenneth Copeland rally and turning to my Aunt and saying, goddamn I could make a lot of money doing this. 3 years later, COTR starts popping up.
I was a dirt poor teenager looking for acceptance, and the SWINE at cotr shoved their form of JESUS down my throat, then left me in the cold like they do all their members when the members start to question things.
For those that are members there, re read your responses. They DRIP with contempt and pride. Your unholy teachings RUINED my spiritual life for 12 years...it was only when I started to read the obscene teachings of the church did I realize the damage cotr had caused.
COTR will recieve it's just reward.
I just wanted to let you know that the Church on the Rock in Berea, Ky didn't start out as a Church on the Rock. It has never, and will never be affiliated with any other Church on the Rock that is anywhere else in this nation.

It used to be Dixie Park Baptist Church. When they built the new building they renamed the church to Church on the Rock a Full Gospel Baptist Church.

We are not boasting nor are we being prideful. We are simply defending the flock that we are a part of, and are defending our shepherd. If you have never been to Church on the Rock in Berea, Ky, then you don't know anything about our church. Again, I will state we have never been affiliated with any other church or organization. This church has always been independent.

Also, never let what happened at a church cause you to give up on God. God did nothing to you. Remember, the people who run the churches are human like you and I are. They will make mistakes. There is no such thing as a perfect church. They all have their weaknesses and strengths, advantages and disadvantages, and good traits and bad traits.

So again, please check your facts and look into the background of a church before you start implying anything about it. Also attend it as well. Also, remember, there are a lot of churches in this nation that have the same name. They aren't affiliated. They may even have different doctrines. All that matters is if they preach and teach the uncompromised Word of God, Jesus and him Crucified and of his resurrection, and of his return, and the plan of salvation.

The worst part is, you have no idea what you are talking about. Ask Saint Mark. He had to pay to use that name, and yes I know what I am talking about, I dont need to imply ANYTHING.

I took 3 hours and read each post on this subject. All of you members here defending the church...if it was of "g"od, then y would you need to? Hell, Peter cut a man's ear off, JC simply picked it up and put it back on.Its the same thing. If this church was of God, then you wouldnt need to defend it - he would.

So f*ck you and your godless church you retard.

I mean shyte, what the Hell do you think would happen if I went and started a store and decided to call it Wal-Mart.

Got no time for f*cktards without a clue. See yall in hell.

Pastor Mark did NOT have to pay to use that name. Our church name isn't "Church on the Rock." It is "Church on the Rock A Full Gospel Baptist Church."

Cursing gets you no where. It only implies that you have the lack of a good vocabulary. So before you start acting like you know everything, when you have never even seen that church, nor set foot on it's campus, realize that we members attend that church and know more about it than you do.

We are simply trying to clear up the confusion started by people who don't know much about COTR in Berea, Ky but go by hearsay.

God is not the Author of Confusion. Go ahead and think you know everything there is about the Church on the Rock in Berea, Ky. But if you were to call up all of the other Church on the Rock's in this nation, they will tell you we dont have the same name as they do.

Have a blessed weekend.

I also agree that you should not be paid to be a preacher OR go to college. It's a gift that is given to you.
I would rather my preacher go to college! Why on earth would I want to listen to someone who has never been exposed to any ideas other than what their uneducated preacher told them? Maybe I just like people who can think.

So going to college is the only other way to be exposed to ideas? I spent many years in the military with many "uneducated" people who could out think most of the college grads I've met since then. I'll bet that I've been directly exposed to more people, cultures, and "ideas" then you've even read about in your smart books only college people can read. As for a leader, spiritual or worldly, I would rather have someone who's been through it rather than read about it.

This is a "look at me" church. The pastor for one, loves the attention. I have been to this church, and I won't be back. They want money to show off. I'm not sure what larger group it is affiliated with, but it's fringe at best.
listen buddy i go there and you have no room to judge if this is all you have to talk about then you need to get ahold of jesus!

I grew up in Bell County and when I attended church as a child and young adult it was a pentacostal or holyness or whatever religion that shouts, speaks in tongues. I've even been to a snake handling church, ONCE! As an adult and an college educated man, looking back what I saw the people of these faiths are TWO FACED, JUDGEMENTAL, JEALOUS, USUALLY POOR, UNEDUCATED, WEAK MINDED, GENERALLY NOT RIGHT IN THE HEAD! However, I do not seem to have that view of the church on the rock. I have been there a few times and what I see is that not all of the people of the pentecostal faith or similiar faiths are as messed up as I grew up thinking. The things I saw in Those little Churches really haunts me and I can never give those faith a chance ever again. After the things I have seen I reserve the right to just be labled as "christian" under the laws of my own logical beliefs. I know if I am doing wrong and so does everyone else! But it is up to each individual to make that determination. However, not all people can make that determination so they join the join the fire and brimstone way of religion.

I actually do have room to judge, the Bible tells me too. Or are you one of those that thinks the Bible tells us not to judge? I bet you are. I also bet that Jesus doesn't want you to use the user name, "PISSED OFF". That's about what I expect though from a church that preaches to look at me and isn't firmly planted in the Word.

People who go there are mindless sheep.

Heck....even after Pastor Jim Baker was exposed, many in his "flock" would still defend him and his lavish living...even willing to throw cash to him while he was in prison.

People like you never ever cease to amaze me.

God knows the truth, it really sounds like someone has alot of anger, resentment and hurts. Christians this is our chance to not use our words to defend this negative attack, but instead pray for these users. We need to bind up these negative spirits and speak love into this person or peoples lives. We speak love into your lives we ask that GOD give you peace and understanding and a love for his word. If you want the truth search for the truth, but search for it in the right way. That way is GODs word, the BIBLE. The more time you spend in his word and more the truth will be revealed. Love love love love love love love. GOD IS LOVE!
