First i went for years, I started when he was preaching in the 1200 Sq foot room and the had to place fold out chairs out side the two front doors that was placed in the middle of the building. I stop a few years after they had the addition put on to that church and made the old one a fellowship hall. Now tell me how long you went. So for ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE you don't have a clue what you are talking bought he him self has told me where some things have come from.

Tell me something have you not been there on a sunday and hear his father inlaw say "well goodmoring church we are going to pass the offering plate around and take up a love offering for your pastor please show him you care and give" if you say no then maby you need to stay with the church for a few years befor making comments and quotes of the bible.

PEWTWO_COTR You are another clueless one there are many people there that are paid and i can personal tell you there names.

Tell me this you are a Preacher of god and one of your deacon is GAY (and everyone knows how Mark feals about gays) I find it hard to belive that sense that is a horriable sin to lay with another man that god would not have told him.

I have no intent on making it to ANY service at this church. I've made that mistake too many times in the past.

Is there still a huge picture of the pastor on the front web page? I bet there is. "look at me"

You have a building on Hwy25, not Rupp arena.
I may have misquoted the amount, because I didnot check the bulletin board recently, this I do know, the amount was in the 5 figures for the cooling/summer months, the winter months we comparable. For my accuracy and your information, I will procure the most recent statement and post for you.

at this point, I will choose to discontinue participation in this very ugly, unsupported attack on this work of God. Just remember that a tree is known by the fruit that it bears and this ministry has seen many souls saved for the kingdom of God, the hungry are fed, the sick are visited, and lives are restored. check the scriptures (which for some reason you are uncomfortable with me using...) for the reasoning that Jesus gave to the disciples of John the Baptist for validation of his ministry... these are the signs of true ministry.

I heard COTR's deacons are paid. Never heard of that anywhere else. This could be hearsay, so you can correct me if I am wrong.

I checked the web page since it bothered you so much and I assumed I must have been right. I was.....there was a big picture of the pastor on the front with his wife. It had been updated, the last time I saw it, it was a huge, HUGE, picture of the pastor with his arms stretched out.

just to sit and read these blogs from some of you is so sad that you really don't know what you are talking about. you really don't know what sacrifices this man of God has made. you don't know the many hours of prayer, being away from his family, and lets not even get into the salary thing....i think you would be shocked at his pay. but he doesn't do it for the pay, he does it to fulfill the calling on his life. he does it to see souls saved, and lives changed. please don't judge a man till you have walked in his shoes. to stand on the outside and cast stones doesn't take a lot of effort or thought, but to examine your ownselve does. please take care in the words you share, they can murder the innocent.

Rather than try to remember, I had the financial statements added up for Jan 08 until Aug 08, and the total was $45,000.00, not the $24,000.00 I mentioned earlier, wrong column on the sheet. My apologies.

I separate myself from all this meaningless dialoge. Those that attended COTR do so at their pleasure with no strings attached. The gossip about paid deacons, gay deacons and such are just that, gossip. And I do have a clue. Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life, whose yours? With all the hatred and stife in this world, why fabricate drivial. I leave you to your own misery.

Wow...the things that make you go HUMMMMMMMMMMMM!
First of all, I know the Pastor of the church, and yes there is a reason that people love and follow him so much. It is because he doesn't consider himself to be above his congregation. he loves his people. Something that you would not learn from only one or two visits to the church.
I have seen him preach at big churches and small churches. He is the same person at all of them. He doesn't run off and leave when the service is over, like he is afraid to interact with the people. He sticks around, talks to them, hugs on them, loves on them.
But yes, he is a man...he is not a god, even though he does serve the one true God. And yes, he does have toys....but since when is a man not supposed to have toys and hobbies. He does "own" a Chevy pickup, and a 4 wheeler. Someone mentioned that he owned a motorcycle. Well, he does ride a Harley Davidson from time to time, but he has a friend that gives him a different Harley on loan every few years for him to ride....which he doesn't do very often because of his duties that he must fulfill because he is paid.
And yes, there is a regular Sunday morning attendance of 800+ which come from all surrounding areas, not just Berea. Now that is a lot of people to take care of. A lot of funerals, weddings, sick people to visit....would you really want a man to pastor this size group that was also working a full time secular job? When would he find time to do his pastoral duties, let alone pray and stay in the Bible so that he can preach the truth to his congregation.
And as far as his education is concerned...I like my pastors to be educated, but more importantly, I like them to be called. A called preacher who doesn't educate himself in the Word of God is no better than an educated preacher who does not have the call to preach in my opinion.
People tend to be afraid of things in which they don't understand or don't want to understand, and the first reflex to fear is to attack the thing which they don't understand.
Are all Christians perfect? Far from it. For that matter, are all people that claim to be Christian really what they say they are? A day will come when we will all know for sure, and on that day, we can't blame our insufficiencies or our insecurities on anyone but ourselves. The day that God returns, the only person He is interested in talking to is you and what you did for Him...He will not accept anything else.

I attended for many years like i said from when he first started in Dixie Park the first one little bitty church. He was not a paid preacher then he worked at KI in Berea. and if he done the preaching because of the love he would have a 40 hour week job.

The church (not necessarily just COTR) is not perfect, just a vehicle to take us on the journey to perfection.

Because of his love, the Pastor has more like a 80 hour week job. I really don't think people can wrap their minds around the truth of the time it takes to minister. Being called to hospitals, accidents, etc. at all hours of the night. Funerals at times 3-5 a week, you don't have a real clue. The only reason I even respond to this blog is to defend this man, because I personally know what it takes to be in the ministry. Please like I said before, watch what you say, you have the power to murder another with your words.
